Music is a way to get away from our problems for sometime, it is something that relaxes us, and puts us in a better mood. For which on Monday, February 29, 2016, I went to see the Skyline Jazz Ensembles to lighten up my mood. The event took place at Yoshi’s in Oakland, California. It was performed by Skyline high school students. The concert started at 9:00 pm and ended at 10:00 pm. There were different styles of musical performances presented, they presented several combos and small ensembles highlighting student arrangements and compositions.

The event started with the tune of O Cabo Pitanga played on saxophone and guitar. The whole piece went on mostly the same soft tone throughout the performance. The other pieces performed were Blue Bossa, James Bond theme, and Freddie Freeloader. Out of all the pieces performed I thoroughly enjoyed Blue Bossa because of it’s mellow tone without many variations and slow in tempo. Since it was performed on just saxophone and drums, it was really nice to hear. For this piece rhythm, melody, and harmony can be consolidated on the grounds that as the music got little speedier the rhythm, melody, and harmony would go up too. There was an interconnection in the middle of everything, and that association is required all through the entire piece to make it more charming and unforgettable. The structure of the music was very well organized, it started off with saxophone and after that drums engaged to give needed support to it. The volume of the instruments stayed same with it all through the execution despite the fact that it was quick now and again. All in all, the piece was full of joy and made me feel relaxed after listening
