Dakota Meyer
Dakota Meyer was born on the 26th of June, 1988 in Colombia, Kentucky and raised in Greensburg, a small town where alcohol sales are illegal and farm work is the most popular work. After his parents were divorced, his dad raised him on a farm next to his grandparents’. His dad was a farmer and Dakota helped out and learned how to be a farmer himself over his high school days. According to him in an interview he “was not a model student”, as he described foolish happenings of him and his friends. During lunch one day, he saw a Marine recruiter and, at first, he walked away but then he turned around and told the recruiter “you go pick up your stuff right now, lets go sign those papers”. That same day when his dad got home, Dakota was waiting with the recruiter in his home.
When Dakota went to boot camp, where he celebrated his 18th birthday, he went into the infantry and later was trained to be a Marine Scout Sniper. He served one tour in Iraq, and prior to him leaving for a second tour, an opportunity to go to Afghanistan arose. Meyer opted for Afghanistan. While in Afghanistan, Meyer was assigned to the Marine Embedded Training Team 2-8 in Kunar Province. On September 8th, 2009 Meyer’s unit was given a mission to go to Ganjgal Valley, in Kunar province to meet with village elders that wanted to turn over their allegiance from the Taliban to US forces. The plan was for the Afghan battalion to leave base before the sun came up and arrive at the village before first light. They would talk to the elders about renovating a mosque and see whether there were other projects the government could help with. A U.S. quick-reaction force would be on standby, and an observation post would be established to keep ...

...ourage to run into that fire and do my job the best I can. Training that could help me with that situation is classes from the fire academy to teach me how to block out thoughts and just act to protect and/or save anybody inside. An example of when I will act beyond the call of duty will be when I have to protect or save somebody from a situation while ill-equipped to handle that situation.

... Iraqi forces surrendered after the bombings on their military forces by the United States military. Rob Hernandez explained that he was proud to serve in the military and never got tired of serving for his country. The Persian Gulf War and Desert Storm were one of many conflicts that America has won and has promoted peace throughout the world. At the end of this war, there was still divergence between Saddam Hussein’s forces and the United States, which will lead into the future Iraqi war. George H.W Bush’s efforts and command of the military during the Gulf War helped create peace in Kuwait and areas around it. At the end of the interview Rob Hernandez gave information about how life was in the military where a person would have to move from Europe to America and possibly back, and then life working on the different air bases located around the different nations.
The Battle of Kamdesh was fought in Afghanistan during the Afghan War. It is an occurrence in the ongoing NATO campaign of the Operation Enduring Freedom since the year 2001. It was one of the bloodiest battles the USA forces engaged in during this campaign against the Taliban insurgents. The Taliban insurgents, assisted by local Nuristan militias, attacked Kamdesh, which is an American combat outpost, located deep in the Nuristan tribal Areas. They carried out a well-coordinated attack on the outpost, leading to a breach and an overrun of the post. This paper, seeks to analyze why, when, how, and what were the resulting impact of the battle.

Lieutenant General Lewis B. “Chesty” Puller, through dedication to his mission and the welfare of his marines, was a visionary leader even by today’s standards. In his youth, Chesty attempted to join World War I before he had reached the required age. He attended Virginia Military Institute, but dropped out after one year to satisfy his urge to experience combat. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps as a private and remained enlisted for only a year before his commissioning as a lieutenant. Unfortunately, the war ended before he was able to experience combat. When a force reduction ensued after the end of the war, Lt Puller was sent to the reserves and given the ...

The job duties and training set to be a firefighter varies from which occupational source one chooses to be. Experts say, “Control and extinguish fires or respond to emergency situations where life property or the environment is at risk.”(www.careerinfonet.org online). In other words firefighters are obligated to do the tasks required of them. Another source states, “Include fire prevention, emergency medical source, hazardous material response, search and rescue, and disaster management.”(www.careerinfonet.org online). Another way to explain this is firefighters have many dangers they have to look out for. As one website says, “Fire fighters spend much of their time at the fire station.”(www.allthingspolitcal.org online). Obviously, firefighters spend their time waiting on a call. Experts say, “Abilities Learned – problem sensitivity, - reaction time, - arm hand steadiness, - manual dexterity, - multi-limb coordination, - response orientation.”(www.careerinfonet.org online). The Few the Proud and the The Brave. Timothy Durham A corpral in the United States Marine Corps Considers himself to be a example of what the Marines exemplify. "I am a Marine to the heart 100%."
For centuries, the men and women of the fire service have been pioneering new ways to “do more with less”. When faced with a predicament, these individuals use the resources available to them to find a suitable resolution. How will this be possible if those resources are not available?
Mental health in the fire service is an upcoming problem, but has been occurring for years without firefighters even knowing it. Specifically post-traumatic stress disorder known as PTSD and firefighter suicides are the main issues that have a large impact in the fire service. This outline will lay out the main points that are a result, impact, or other subjects in relation to the two main issues above. Firefighter deaths are rising rapidly, members of the fire service need to be educated on PTSD and suicide to provide treatment before another devastating event occurs in result of the issues effects.

Born in Virginia, to mother Martha Puller and father Matthew Puller, he grew to become a well recognized marine globally (Russell & Cohn, 2012). His father’s dead while he was 10 years did not stop him to achieve a high point career; in fact, his childhood lifestyle of listening to war stories...
“Corporal Dunham covered the grenade with his helmet and body, bearing the brunt of the explosion and shielding his Marines from the blast. In an ultimate and selfless act of bravery in which he was mortally wounded, he saved the lives of at least two fellow Marines.” This is an expert from CPL Jason Dunham’s Medal of Honor Citation awarded to him posthumously. The moving words written in this citation merely scratch the surface of CPL Dunham’s courageous actions were that day and how his decisiveness saved the lives of his squad and junior Marines. His acts were not only influential, but also motivational to the Marines underneath him. This is a moment in our history that has been spread throughout the Marine Corps as a prime example of quick decision-making amongst unit leaders. Sgt. Dakota Meyers is another supreme example ...
