The Da Vinci Code By Dan Brown
For my book report I read The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown. The Da Vinci Code has one main character and many supporting characters. The main character is Robert Langdon, a Harvard symbologist and professor. He is a tall American with coarse black hair and blue eyes. He is very intellectual and very modest. He is a quick thinker under pressure and doesn?t give up easily. He is careful with his words.
The most important supporting character is Sophie Neveu. She is a cryptologist the and granddaughter of Jacques Sauniere, the murder victim. She has blond hair and green eyes and is French. She is very independent and commanding. She is also very intellectual, fluent in two languages, and good at breaking codes. She is a very determined person and does not give up with out a fight. She is also very quick witted. She is a very good liar, very convincing. She likes to take matters into her own hands.
The second most important supporting character is Leigh Teabing. Sir Leigh Teabing is a avid researcher of the Holy Grail. He has bushy red hair and hazel eyes. Both his legs are in metal braces. Leigh is a sly Englishman, who is obsessed with discovering the hiding place of the Grail. He is a very good actor and loves to exaggerate. He is never at a loss for words.
Another main supporting charater is Bezu Fanche. He is the officer who is leading the search for the murderer and suspectcs that it is Langdon. Fanche is a large cold man who is desperrate to find this culprit. He grealt needs this case to be solved because his reputation is on the line here. He made a few too many mistakes and needs to restore his reputataion or he risk losing his job.
I also believe that another imortant supporting character is Jaucques Sauniere. He is murdered in the first chapter, however throughout the book Jaucques Sauniere affects the story line dramatically. Jaucques Sauniere is man who really believes that you need to work for what you get and nothing should come easily to you. He is an amazing code specialist and when he hides something it will stay hidden unless he wants you to find it.
The Da Vinci Code is about the journey Robert and Sophie take to find the Holy Grail. It begins in the Louvre Museum of Art where Jaucques Sauniere who was a curator in the Louvre. He was also the master of a secret organiza...

... to smash the box because inside lies a small glass vile containing vinegar which will dissolve the parchment on which the message is written. Once Langdon, Shopie, and Teabing open the first cryptex another lies inside.
He also never lets the story slow down or stop moving. There is always an unexpected twist which will astound you yet make perfect sense. Such as Teabing betrayal. It was totally unexpected yet it fit Teabings personality perfectly. He always wishes to have the upper hand. Another unexpected twist was that the Grail really wasn?t hidden in Great Britain in the Rosslyn which all the clues seemed to lead. Another unexpected twist was that both Opus Dei and the Priory of Sion both wished to keep the contents of the Grail hidden.
Dan brown is also good at gathering real information and joining it together to make a story that seems possible. His story is based on facts which he has distorted to make fit to what he wishes to achieve. You can never tell what is coming next or what the outcome of an action will. He constantly keeps you guessing and I enjoy that. I give this book two thumbs up.
The Da Vinci Code, Dan Brown, DoubleDay publishing 2003.
What impressed me most about the book was the incredible detail he used to describe people, places, events, and things. As I said, some people may find all this detail to be tedious. I however think that it was important to have such details to paint an accurate picture of ancient Rome.
There were really no very interesting characters in this book. I was never one to be interested in history. There were some interesting parts though, for instance, the chapter about the railroad man was pretty good, and it was kind of cool that he got promoted to vice-president of the railroad he work on within a year after he started the job. Some of the wars he was in were ok as well. It sometimes amazes me that there were so many unnamed heroes.
Another main character is International 4- 8818 who is a friend of Equality 7-2521 and one of the two who also found the tunnel that they are keeping as a secret. One more of the main characters is The Saint of Pyre. He is a main character because he is part of Equality 7-2521 memories.
What makes a book successful? Perhaps it is the characters and their varying personalities that make them memorable and realistic, or maybe it’s the thought-provoking plotline with its many twists and turns. One of the elements to a good book is most definitely the characters, and a good number of main characters gain their characteristics when the author encounters someone similar in their life. This encounter makes the character seem real, someone the reader can relate to. The same inspiration can be said happened for Flowers for Algernon. Specific events in Daniel Keyes’s life led to the formation of many main characters.
Although survey of the characters in the novel certainly supports much of this assessment by Martin, one need think only of the snobbish Baron, the knavish Dutch captain, Vanderbendur, the Brazilian Governor, the bestial Bat avian sailor, the hypocritical Jesuits, the avaricious Jews, and the thieving abbe' from Perigord.
He is truly a great writer, and Of Mice and Men is no exception, but while reading this
Because this novel follows the "Who Done It" theme, there are the few obvious characters. 1) The inspector, always trying to get an accusation across as to who the murderer is(of course never correct). 2) The doctor, Devon Island's answer to the question nobody ever asked. 3) The old married couple (Mr. + Mrs. Rogers), always passionate to others, until a guest discovers an eerie secret.
The novel has several concurrent subplots interweaving the lives of different characters; eventually all the characters are brought together and the subplots resolved in the conclusion. The unraveling of the mystery requires the solution to a series of brainteasers, including anagrams and number puzzles. The ultimate solution is closely connected with the possible location of the Holy Grail and to a mysterious society called the Priory of Sion, as well as to the Knights Templar. The story also involves the Roman Catholic organization Opus Dei.
Fans of the novel found that the way the novel is written, you never want to put it down and the action keeps things moving and is quite entertaining. The novel pulls you in and makes you love each of the main characters in it. This is a great series for anyone to read, and it is audience friendly for whoever reads them. There is quite a bit of suspense that will make the novel exceed readers 's expectations, and the twists and turns keeps you guessing and lets nothing be predictable. Some like the way this group of people bands together when they really need to and keep things together so they can all stop the
The first word of the fictional Da Vinci Code is the word Fact. Following that sentence is a huge lie that states “The Priory of Sion – a secret European society founded in 1099– is a real organization. In 1975 Paris's Bibliotheqe Nationale discovered parchments known as Les Dossiers Secrets, identifying numerous members of the Priory of Sion, including Sir Isaac Newton, Botticelli, Victor Hugo, and Leonardo da Vinci" (Brown 1). The truth of the Priory of Sion began in France in 1956, which is hard to show that Sir Isaac Newton, Victor Hugo and Leonardo da Vinci to be in this group when they have all died before this group was formed. From here on out the author Dan Brown continues to lie. The Da Vinci Code is a mystery-detective novel that came out in 2003. It is about a secret society that is made to protect the Holy Grail. The Holy Grail is the cup that or platter used by Jesus at the Last Supper. The story follows two characters as they investigate a murder in a Paris Museum and follow clues through Leonardo da Vinci’s drawings to discover a battle between the Priory of Sion and ...
Leonardo Da Vinci is a famed artist today due to his renowned painting of the ‘Mona Lisa’. In the 14th century, people of Venice would have known him as an engineer, people of Milan would have known him for his Last Supper, but only the people of Florence would have seen his whole character. Da Vinci is known as the archetypal Renaissance man, a man of “unquenchable curiosity” and “feverishly inventive imagination”. Da Vinci created many technologies and new innovations which were so advanced for his time and age that many scholars did not believe him. He contributed to civilisation through three main areas: art, science and engineering.
The entire story essentially centered on a man named Henry Spearman who is an economist professor at Harvard that decided to go on a vacation with his wife to get away from his work that he always seemed to be doing. The events that ensue on this island make the economist work more than he probably would have if he had not gone on this vacation to Cinnamon Bay. The entire book contains many characters, each of which has something to do with the two murders that happen on this island in their own way, and it is not until the end, that we find out the connections. Some of the characters include Matthew Dyke (who works at the same college as Henry) and his wife; General Decker (who is one of the men who is murdered in the book); Curtis Foote (the other man murdered in the book), Doug and Judy Clark (a couple that is vacationing on Cinnamon Bay who has just had their children picked up when Spearman met them, meaning they can now freely go to the clubs), Detective Vincent (the detective of the murders who hasn’t had a lot of experience investigating murders), along with many others.
... scenes give insight into “the bulls” motivations that the novel did not detail. The style is kept similar to the elements Brown uses in the novel just on a different character. The similarites the film keeps are pivotal to the novel, the style of Saunière death, the lead characters and their personalities and the excitement of discovering the secret of the Holy Grail all stay the same, but the movie ends with a different motivation for the plot. The “plot twist” ending leaves a bit of a sour taste, Saunière is no longer protecting his granddaughter and passing on their family history, instead he is defending and hiding Sophie solely for her “royal blood.” Ron Howard’s The Da Vinci Code is an acceptable, even enjoyable adaptation of Dan Browns novel, but just like in any film, some of the magic of the novel is lost when it is transferred into a different medium.
There are many characters in the book, but main character in the book is Hercule Poirot. Hercule is a famous Belgian inspector known for his efficient, unorthodox methods
He brings comedy sadness and science to this book so easily. He makes marvin such a sad robot but its funny how people don't cut him any slack or try to help him because he's so hopeless. Douglas adams makes horrible things pretty hilarious. Arthur dent planet just blew up everyone he loved dead but know hes a level one trainee hitchhiker of the galaxy with teacher ford perfect. He brings in science with scientist mice and huge computers. In like real life they say dolphins are the most intelligent animals but in his book it proves it wrong saying mice are the true winners here. They have been experimented on and know whats what's now. So soon are world will be taken over by
