DSL or Cable
Everyday there are millions of people connecting to the Internet. The Internet is made up of networks of computers linked together around the world where people can chat, shop, instant message, and e-mail each other. With so many people connecting one might wonder how all of these millions of people are connecting to the Internet. There are many different options for people to use to connect to the Internet, such as dial-up, DSL, Cable, and Satellite. Dial-up internet connection uses the telephone line; this is the oldest connection that has been around since the 1990’s. The newest type of connection would be the satellite connection, which is not very popular right now because of the high cost. The two most popular choices that people are using today are DSL and Cable. These are the two internet connections that will be compared to see which one is right for you.
DSL vs. Cable: What is the difference?
DSL
DSL stands for Digital Subscriber Line, which is a method of moving information over a telephone line. “A DSL circuit is much faster than a regular phone connection and the wires coming into the subscriber’s premises are the same (copper) wires used for regular phone service (www.about.com). The copper wires have lots of room for carrying more then normal telephone calls, carrying this extra information does not disturb a telephone conversion. Most all homes and small business use a type of DSL called asymmetric. Asymmetric DSL “divides up the available frequencies in a line on the assumption that most Internet users look at, or download, mush more information than they send, or upload. Under this assumption, of the connection speed from the internet to the user is three to four times faster...

...h the service being down. I also like the fact that they give discounts to customers that have cable television with them. Although Cox Internet connection is not available in all areas in Phoenix yet, they are working to get everyone a chance to connect to the Internet. Whether you chose DSL or a Cable provider, make sure you are happy with the services you are being provided, because the companies are working quickly to be available in all areas. So if you are not happy, check to see if other services are available in your area.

Saunders has a history of asthma and in conjunction with a respiratory assessment an asthma assessment will be required. A brief patient history is needed to evaluate, looking for a history of rapid onset, exaggerated use of β-agonists and mechanical ventilation for asthma. Symptoms sound is taken into account, in the case of Mr. Saunders he is experiencing shortness of breath, speaking in short sentences, presenting wheezing, flushed appearance as well as dyspnoea. Additionally, the severity of the symptoms should be taken into account, how often they occur and whether they cause exercise limitations or nocturnal wakening (Kaufman, 2012). It is also important to establish any medications whether it be prescribed, over the counter, or herbal remedies that the patient may be taking as some medications have been known to exacerbate asthma (Kaufman, 2012). In addition to exploring clinical history, it is also important to obtain objective data to support the diagnosis (Kaufman, 2012). Physical examinations are a part of an asthma assessment and are very essential to help backup the diagnosis. Respiratory rate, heart rate and pulse paradoxus are all sections of the physical examination. In conjunction with these a spirometry is also required. A spirometry is best pathway of identifying airflow obstruction which will make a definitive diagnosis of asthma (Kaufman, 2012). This assessment required the patient to use maximum force to expel the air from their lungs, as fast and hard as possible. This process is measure over 1 second and conducted 3 times, thus the highest recording of the three is taken (Kaufman, 2012). A result lower than 70% strongly indicates airway obstruction; hence lower the ratio, the more severity of the obstruction (Kaufman,
1970s was considered as the birth of video game industry, the phenomenon of gaming was growing and home gaming console Home-Pong which was a one-game-only console was invented by Atari, since then, the gaming industry has become very profitable, and more and more genre of video games were created.
ames have been played before we began to record time. Almost 50 years ago, games changed into a new form. Magnavox Odyssey can be debated to be the first game console. Throughout 50 years ago and now, video games have become essential to every living room and a pastime to every young child. Companies have risen from this new industry, to produce games to young investors and dominate the game world. With new technology, graphics, and software: gaming franchises run mostly by public support. Each decade that passes, games are changed by America’s public these games change based on how the public perceives them.
Secondly, severe asthma can be life-threatening. Suffering from asthma can be frightening to experience and people often feel scared and anxious. The fear and scare can also lead to breathlessness and so mak...
Asthma is chronic inflammatory disorder of the airways characterized by recurring episodes of wheeling and breathlessness. It often exists with allergies and can be worsened through exposure to allergens. In fact, asthma is complicated syndromes that have neither single definition nor complete explanation to the point. In light of its treatment, it is worthwhile to notice that asthma cannot be cured, instead can be only managed by avoiding exposure to allergens and/or by using medications regularly.
Asthma is a disease that affects the breathing passages of the lungs (bronchioles). People who have asthma always have difficulty breathing. In the United States alone, over twenty-five million Americans are diagnosed with asthma. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), asthma is known to be the third most common disease as well as a leading cause to hospitalization in America. In 2008, one in two people were reported to have asthma attacks which is roughly about twelve million asthma attacks a year. In 2007, the United States spent more than fifty-six million dollars on medical costs, lost school and work days, and early deaths from asthma. Asthma is not visible to the human eye, so it is difficult in an emergency situation for the lay responder to tell whether the victim is having trouble breathing or having an asthma attack. Unlike people who are diabetic and have to wear medical ID bracelets, people with asthma are not required to wear them, but it should be recommended to help the lay responder, the doctors and the paramedics identify the situation they are dealing with at hand. For hours, days or even months a person may be normal but then an attack may suddenly happen out of nowhere.
Discuss at least four different methods that can be used to diagnose asthma and the results you would expect to see in Mr. TG’s case.
Asthma is a disorder of the respiratory system in which the passages that enable air to pass into and out of the lungs periodically narrow, causing coughing, wheezing, and shortness of breath. This narrowing is typically temporary and reversible, but in severe attacks, asthma may result in death. Asthma most commonly refers to bronchial asthma, an inflammation of the airways, but the term is also used to refer to cardiac asthma, which develops when fluid builds up in the lungs as a complication of heart failure. This article focuses on bronchial asthma.
Most of you may not think of asthma as a killer disease, yet more that 5,000 Americans die of asthma each year. According to the Mayo Clinic web page, asthma also accounts for more that 400,000 hospital discharges annually. As the number of people with asthma increases, the more likely you are to come in contact with a person who has the disease. As far as I can remember, I have had asthma my whole life. My mother and one of my sisters also have asthma, so I have a first hand experience with it. This morning, I will discuss some interesting facts about asthma, I will specifically focus on what it is, warning signs, symptoms, causes, and the treatments that are used.
The 2002 film, Magdalene Sisters, written and directed by Peter Mullan, portrays the experiences of four young women who were sent to Magdalene laundries where they were expected to work to gain redemption through intensive labor, typically for the duration of their lives. These women were considered “fallen” for committing sins such as promiscuity, pregnancy out of wedlock, flirtatiousness and even for being victims of rape or incest. These inmates were beaten, dehumanized, humiliated and stripped of their dignity. This film, based on the documentary Sex in a Cold Climate, highlights the reciprocal influence of the Catholic Church and society that formed the views and treatment of women, which ultimately led to the creation and perpetuation of Magdalene laundries until 1996. Following the creation of the Irish Free State, the heavily intertwined nature of Irish society and Catholicism allowed for a strict interpretation of Catholic teachings which overtly condemned, dehumanized and sexually repressed women. Distorted catholic teachings that formed expectations for women deeply affected all levels of the operation of laundries including the greater society, the inmates and the nuns in a way that perpetuated and facilitated oppression and abuse.
Asthma is a disease that currently has no cure and can only be controlled and managed through different treatment methods. If asthma is treated well it can prevent the flare up of symptoms such as coughing, diminish the dependence on quick relief medication, and help to minimize asthma attacks. One of the key factors to successful treatment of asthma is the creation of an asthma action plan with the help of a doctor that outlines medications and other tasks to help control the patient’s asthma ("How Is Asthma Treated and Controlled?"). The amount of treatment changes based on the severity of the asthma when it is first diagnosed and may be the dosage may be increased or decreased depending on how under control the patient’s asthma is. One of the main ways that asthma can be controlled is by becoming aware of the things that trigger attacks. For instance staying away from allergens such as pollen, animal fur, and air pollution can help minimize and manage the symptoms associated with asthma. Also if it is not possible to avoid the allergens that cause a patient’s asthma to flare up, they may need to see an allergist. These health professionals can help diagnosis what may need to be done in other forms of treatment such as allergy shots that can help decrease the severity of the asthma ("How Is Asthma Treated and Controlled?").
Since 1995 the Internet has tremendously impacted culture and commerce, including the rise of near instant communication by email, instant messaging, telephony, two-way interactive video calls, and the World Wide Web with its discussion forums, blogs, social networking, and online shopping sites. Increasing amounts of data are transmitted at higher and higher speeds over fiber optic networks operating at 1-Gbit/s, 10-Gbit/s, or more.
DSL technology is suitable for households and small businesses, particularly in rural areas, who may have access to other types of Internet services like cable Internet, DSL is also the very appropriate to the customers who want to use the internet with a package quite economical. While DSL is slower than cable Internet, it forms the lack of speed with a much more economical than cable Internet. DSL service providers rarely have any data, so DSL is ideal for those who spend a lot of time online every day, like small businesses or home. In addition, with technology DSL this can attra...
Advancement in technology has enabled mobile telephones to connect to the Internet, thus dramatically increasing the number of devices connecting to it. Internet access via mobile phones has risen as 3G networks allow a decent download speed of up to 14Mbps, compared to 2G with 114Kbps.
So what exactly is the Internet? The Internet is a worldwide web of universities, business, commercial, military and science networks (Laquey 7). The networks function separately but with the Internet they can also function together. All of the information one of the networks supplies (and is willing to give out) is available to all of the other networks. This gives an amazing amount of access to an individual user who is hooked into one of these networks. Individual users, not part of a network, can receive the Internet capabilities by subscribing to a network connected to the Internet. Usually, the networks that supply an Internet connection are commercial. Locally, an example is Prodigy. This is a network, that in itself, provides many resources and can give single users access to the Internet. Personally, Prodigy has created keeping in touch with my friends at college an easier task.
