Introduction Cyberbullying and cyberthreats are two of the most violent acts a person can commit. These acts have lasting effects on a person’s life. Cyberbullying and cyberthreats can occur through personal websites, blogs, emails, text messages and cell phones just to name a few. These acts can continue indefinitely and the victim may not be able to identify their aggressor. Cyberbullying and cyberthreats have become challenging issues facing our schools and communities. As counselors we are advocates, collaborative consultants, and resources for our students and school personnel. This book provides counselors with an array of knowledge. Counselors become aware of the different forms of cyberbullying and cyberthreats. This book educates counselors on what to look for when there are reports of cyberbullying as well as interventions and strategies. Counselors become aware of how to properly respond to cyberbullying and cyberthreats. Not only respond, but how to be that advocate, collaborative consultant, and resource for students. It outlined the impacts of bullying and online social aggression. It gives counselors cues to identify students who are possible victims if cyberbullying and cyberthreats. Counselors must educate not only the victims, but the aggressors as well. This book is important to counselors because we may be the only eyes and ears for parents. Parents need educating. I do not think these issues will go away any time soon. With all the social media outlets that are accessible to our children and adults as well; the problem will continue to grow. Cyberbullying and cyberthreats are cruel acts and aggressors get a kick out of humiliating and putting fear in their victims. Stiffer penalties need to be in place; no matter the ages. Stories are told often about students who were bullied through the internet and the impacts it placed on the victim’s life. These impacts led to suicide for a lot of them.
