Do Curfews Keep Teens Out of Trouble The presupposition that curfews do not keep teens out of trouble is a categorical truth. Many people believe that curfews will not keep teenagers out of trouble. Although some advocates of the opposition would argue that curfews do keep them out of trouble, these critics are too dogmatic in their provincial ideology. Most teens when forced to follow rules will try to find ways around them. This in effect will cause more problems. Throughout history and current times plenty of evidence of this notion is available. “There 's only one problem with youth curfews: They don 't work. And we shouldn 't kid ourselves that they do.” (Curfews)
A curfew is an order specifying a time during which certain regulations apply. Examples: An order issued by the public authorities or military insurgents requiring everyone or certain people to be indoors at certain times, often at night. It can be imposed to maintain public order, or suppress targeted groups. Curfews have long been directed at certain groups in many cities or states, people younger than a certain age in many towns of the United States since the

All curfews should be repealed as they are not only a waste of valuable federal money, but are also placing parents and citizens into a false sense of security. They believe that just because curfews are in place, no teen hoodlums will be causing mischief and mayhem in the city streets. Another major viewpoint against curfews are unfortunately racist. In Roman Espejo’s book, Are teen curfews effective, he quotes Sarah Viren, who testifies that “Teen daytime target minority and disadvantaged youth.” This is because there are still many ignorant people who work in the police force and believe that black citizens will always cause more trouble than white citizens. This, as many level-headed people know, is not
I am in favor of the minority opinion considering that it is more of a situational aspect compared to the majority which would reflect as a principality aspect. The curfew set for this town is too extreme. There are many understandable reasons as to why a minor would be out past 11 p.m. such as a friends/family birthday dinner, work, studying or even extracurricular activities. Many guardians allow their child under the age of 18 to be out past that time. I believe curfews should be set by the guardian of a child and not by the law.
“Juvenile curfew laws are local ordinances that prohibit people of a certain age (usually under 18) from being in public or in a business establishment during certain hours (such as between 11:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.),” according to a Findlaw.com article (Juvenile Curfew Law Basics).
If they had a public curfew, most of them couldn’t get jumped. If they don’t however, they can have freedom, like in the book as of now. “Yet his dark eyes were still laughing and carefree and reckless.” Even after being beat up and such, they still fought. However, if they had a curfew, they would be able to avoid gangs, such as the Socs. “I was sleepy and freezing to death and I wanted to be home in bed, safe and warm under the covers with Soda's arm across me.” Pony wouldn’t have gotten in this situation if he had a curfew to stop the tension between him and Darry.
The city has declared a state of emergency and imposed a 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. curfew for children under the age of 16. Adults going to and from work are not affected by the curfew.
As shown above, curfew laws can play a very critical role in a teenager’s life. It can assist with keeping the city safer, help them get enough sleep, and help them build their personal skill under a well-structured system routine. A lot of people might find curfew laws for teenagers unconstitutional and contradict the first amendment, so they decide not to abide with it. But by doing so, they are placing more a bigger experience to teenagers who are still working on developing their skills to take on new challenges. After all, Teenagers are the future of our society if we don’t teach, coach, direct, and offer guidance their future will be unstable and unproductive and that will affect the entire nation.
Imagine a world where there is no standard state-set curfew on every single teenager. Doesn’t that sound like the world we live in? Even though we have a state curfew, barely anyone even acknowledges it. It’s not like you hear about crimes committed by teenagers every single night because they were out past their curfew. That’s because most of us have parents. And most of them care. The government, however, chooses to disregard the fact that we have parents/legal guardians, and that it’s their job to set such rules for us.
I really don’t understand why all states don’t put a curfew in affect throughout all communities, let me explain why. First off, curfew keeps children safe, parents can’t be everywhere at one time. In addition, slowly but surely curfew teaches children time management and responsibility. Last but not least, curfew will indirectly raise student’s grades in school. There has been numerous studies done on how grades are affect by curfew. In closing, I strongly support the purpose of a curfew.
There is some debate on whether curfews keep teenagers out of trouble. A curfew is defined as a law or regulation that requires a person or group of people must stay indoors for a designated time, usually through the night. Curfews usually apply to teenagers and are there to help keep them out of trouble and keep them safe. City regulations have different views on curfew times and age groups. For example, a 13 year old will need to go indoors earlier than a 17 year old. Usually a curfew is set at about 11 p.m., but can also be set for in the daytime. In consideration of having a curfew for teenagers, the crime rate has greatly decreased.
A curfew can be described as an order establishing a specific time in the evening after which certain regulations apply, especially that no civilians or other specified group of unauthorized persons may be outdoors or that places of public assembly must be closed (Dictionary.com). This definition refers to the curfews that are enacted in some states throughout the United States and some countries. A curfew can also be described as a regulation requiring a person to be home at a certain prescribed time, as imposed by a parent on a child (Dictionary.com). Local city curfew laws are enforced with the intension of reducing the juvenile crime rate. On the other hand, parents enforce curfews to keep teens safe, to protect them and to save them from getting involve in illicit things.
Strict rules create rebellious teens. Many people think that curfews are a fundamental way to keeping teens out of trouble, but this is not the case. Curfews are neither applicable, justified, nor are they a way to diminish criminal activities committed by adolescents. Curfews are ultimately useless because there are too many reasons that contradict why a curfew would work.
Curfews have been around in the United States since the late 1800s. Over time curfews have changed; the original curfews were in medieval Europe. A curfew was “the ringing of a bell indicat[ing] that fires were to be extinguished for the evening” (Fried 128). When curfews were adopted in the U.S., city officials and citizens believed that imposing a curfew helps to reduce crime rate and victimization of teens. First curfew was imposed in Omaha, Nebraska in 1880. According to the article, “Youth curfews popular with American cities but effectiveness and legality are questioned” President Harrison believed that curfews were very important in protecting children from “‘vices of the street’” (Favro). Later, curfews were adopted in many of the major U.S. cities that had populat...
Curfew is the time at which you should be back home and safe. Most High Schooler’s will argue that “it’s stupid” and “I won’t get in trouble anyways”. Curfew for High Schooler’s and younger children is an excellent idea because it keeps students in line and out of possible trouble. If curfew was enforced it would eventually help kids be more responsible and trust worthy. Although some might think otherwise, High Schooler's are irresponsible and can not be trusted enough to not have a curfew.

In today’s society, some parents create curfews for their children while others allow their children to create their own curfews. Numerous people argue that setting curfews for teenagers help them refrain from taking part in mischief and help them to develop into superior adults. The remaining group of people state that curfews would make teenagers rebel. Teenage curfews produce different positive but many negative views in parents and teenagers.
