Levin Institute describes three major impacts on world cultures stemming from the global spread of the American political and economic model. The first being the creation of a new class of individuals referred to as the New Global Professionals (Culture and Globalization, n.d.). Reich (as cited in Culture and Globalization, n.d.) describes this emerging class of people as typically being highly educated, well travelled, able to speak foreign languages and see themselves as being "citizens of the world" rather than belonging to a national or regional culture. Some have argued that this interaction has had a positive effect on the world and is increasingly leading to a “multi-cultural global village” where cultural diversity is celebrated and enriches every ones lives for the better in the process (Culture and Globalization, n.d.). An example of this is where multinational fast food restaurants change their menus to suit local tastes. For instance McDonalds in India serve more vegetarian meals, in Thailand a pineapple pie is served while in Brazil you can buy a pão de queijo (traditional cheese bread) for breakfast ("30 Crazy Meals from McDonald’s Menus Around The World", 2016). However, others have suggested that the larger more dominant cultures around the world will continue to grow in influence and create a more homogenised and generic world culture. This will lead to some cultures disappearing in what some have described as “cultural genocide” (Culture and Globalization, n.d.).
