Intoduction :
Culture is defined as the ideas, customs, and social behaviour of a particular people or society. Culture defines the originality of a person of a state. But why is it so important? What are cultural differences and why does it lead to conflicts? Culture is important because, it is a bond which keeps the people of a nation together or unique from the other nation. A community’s culture is served by the community’s art, literature, language and the religion.

Though Hindi is the mother tongue of an Indian but people talk in their native languages only. The culture of India defines the life of people here. India's languages, religions, architecture, food, and art differ from place to place within the country. The Indian culture, is a mix of several cultures which is spread across the country and it has been taken up from the history which is millions of years old.
Though the Sri Lankan’s culture has also been take from various factors, Sri Lanka dint fail to retain their ancient culture. Sri Lanka is densely populated by south Indians and thus the influence is also obvious. But Sri Lanka has also been influenced by Buddhism. Not only Buddhism and south Indians, but also from the colonization by the Portuguese, the Dutch, and the British. Sri Lanka, like India is rich in culture. Arts, fine arts, music, dance and visual arts are still present in the aroma of the Island. Sri Lankan culture is best known abroad for its sports such as cricket, the delicacies and the icons such as the Buddhist flag. But it is different from one another. According to the U.S library of congress, Sri Lanka was dominated by people following Buddhism and almost all of them spoke Sinhala. From birth, children are taught about Buddhism and the relationship between them and the cultural and politics of the place. Buddhist monks are given great respect and participate in services at the notable events in people's lives. To become a monk is a highly valued career goal for many young men. The neighbouring Buddhist monastery or shrine is the center of cultural life for Sinhalese
