You’re exhilarated to finally embark on the cruising vacation you’ve long dreamed about. Yet, nothing pops that pink bubble of happiness quicker than well-meaning people, who must alert you about popular cruise myths.
Generally, cruise myths are just that – myths perpetuated by people who likely have never even experienced cruising.
The Weight Gain Cruise Myth
There is a grain of truth in this legend. If you prefer fine dining, talented chefs from all around the globe, prepare three exceptional meals daily. You may sample all the entrees and sides you want. Desserts are decadent, such as “death by chocolate”.

Sure, you must dress to the nines…if you’re onboard the Titanic. These days, excepting formal nights, such as dining with the captain, you aren’t required to “dress” for dinner.
Although, assigned seating is still observed, which brings up the next topic.
The Gotta Dine with Strangers Cruise Myth
Cruising is all about experiencing. Where else could you connect with people from all four corners of the world? Besides, everyone is a stranger the first time you meet them.
However, if you simply can’t abide your tablemates, talk to the Maître d’ and request a different seating time or different table. There is no guarantee he can change your dinner time or that you’ll resonate with a different group of strangers.
But, isn’t life like that? No guarantees?
