Literature review means to identify, summarize, evaluate and interpreted the written document and report that provided by those researchers, writers and professionals. (Knopf, 2006;Marshall, 2010;Booth et al., 2012)
Based on the concept of conducting literature review, it should concisely to abstract the sources or finding that existence from the prior research. Besides that, it should be proposed or concluded with trustable evidence. It also should judge the research based on what is the right, what is the wrong, what is uncertain or even what is missing from the original literature. (Knopf, 2006; Zorn & Campbell; 2006)
Literature review consists of two main types which are descriptive review and integrative review. For descriptive review,
The second step is to come out with the themes that based on the overview of the topic while also distinguish the research from the authors. Furthermore, the following steps are providing the brainstorming ideas to criticize on the review and analyzing the data based on the research. (Saunders et al., 2012)
Basically, systematic review is consisted of five steps for conducting literature review. First step is to create the foundation for framing the question and selecting a suitable methods. The second step is to determine the relevant work and execute the findings. Then, the third step is to do the data extraction based on the consequence and quality. The forth step is to compound the evidence of data. The last step is to interpret the intensity of evidence by presenting the results or writing out a review. (Adrian white et al., 2005; LK Henderson et al., 2010; Brown et al.,
In addition, the guideline is involved about what types of study should be addressed and what is the effort has made to evaluate on the particular references that used in the review. (Koretz & Lipman, 2016)
The guideline of meta-analysis represents on is it the writing activities that really more effective or better than reading comprehensive consequence. In addition, the guideline also involved in does writing activities has make better differently compare to reading comprehension or just basically based on the types of the students writing performance. (Hebert et al., 2012)
Based on the guideline of meta-analysis, it consists of seven checklist which is study question, literature search, data abstraction, evaluation of results, evaluation for publication bias, applicability of results and funding resources. According to these checklist, the guidance from the checklist is stated the distinct objectives and execute the overall of literature search. Thus, it also formulate the data while combining the results by using statistical method and lastly generalized the results. (Russo, 2007)
Step 3 is defining the evaluation objective, which is “a general statement that conveys the purpose of the planned study in precise terms” (DiClemente et al., 2013, pp. 300). Goals are more manageable when evaluation objectives are precise and contain applicable information. This ensures that the e...
This systematic review conducted by Takeda A, Taylor SJC, Taylor RS, Khan F, Krum H, Underwood M, (2012) sourced twenty-five trials, and the overall number of people of the collective trials included was 5,942. Interventions were classified and assessed using the following headings.-
The research question is the first and foremost initial step in the research process, because it defines the expected outcomes and drives the project design. So it should be clear and concise once the research question is formulated, the next is defining the terms and concepts used in the research process. A literature review is needed to clarify issues, gives an understanding to the researcher how others have formulated similar research questions and defines concepts.
Research methods: The study used a systematic search using the means highlighted by the Preferred Reporting Unit for Systematic Meta-Analyses and Reviews. Several methods of collection of data and analysis have been used in consulting public records on the issue.
Reviewers play a significant role in scholarly publications. Peer reviews support the validation of research, institutes a way by which it can be assessed, and increases interaction opportunities within research groups. Regardless of criticism, peer review is a commonly recognized technique for research authentication. A peer review is typically conducted by an experienced group of peers that share similar vested interest amongst the reviewers. The assigned peers perform reviews of appropriate rigor and detail of pertinent functional elements including examination of content, identification of issues that potentially hinder achievement of objectives, and recognize and correct
In evaluating the evidence, the relevance of the evidence can be graded on its effectiveness, appropriateness, and feasibility. If it has been deemed that there is sufficient research base the next step is pilot the change in practice.
This paper will discuss several different aspects of using evidence research. It will compare and contrast validity vs. reliability and address wither it is possible to have an instrument that is valid and not reliable. It will also examine type I and type II errors as well as examine the differences between parametric and non-parametric. Lastly, this paper will look probability and what the minimum level of significance is for a research paper.
The articles found during the search four were chosen for use in this report. The articles chosen were critically appraised to establish the validity and relevancy of the reports. The articles were selected based on the outline given in Richardson-Tench, Taylor, Kermode & Roberts (2014, pg 53-54) which aims to assess the question and the topic, the abstract, the methodology, the findings or conclusions and an overall evaluation. It was essential that all articles chosen were peer reviewed. This is a process maintains high standards in research and involves the review of articles by subject matter expert’s (Richardson-Tench, Taylor, Kermode & Roberts 2014, pg 53). The authors of the papers were also assessed for credibility. All articles were found to be of authority in the field, authors included nurses with Phd and fellowships, and associations to institutions in high regard. Each abstract of each article was evaluated Richardson-Tench, Taylor, Kermode & Roberts (2014, pg 67) state the abstract should be a clear and brief overview of the report and should include information on the “problems, methods, design, results, conclusions and implications” Richardson-Tench, Taylor, Kermode & Roberts (2014, pg 67). All chosen reports provide an acceptable abstract, for example Mathers
It is essential that when using evidence-based practice guidelines to choose a treatment, that variety of research methods are applied so that the best relevant data can be produced. Such methods include qualitative/quantitative research, randomised controlled trials and systematic reviews. Both qualitative and quantative methods produce valuable data. Quantative research produces numeric evidence that is necessary for practice and can be measured and qualitative research produces descriptive data about the subject by using patients views etc. which can also be applied to clinical practice (Broeder et al, 2010)
The literature review and the research process use both Appendix A and Appendix B to understand how to chose the research topic and plan the research. Throughout the literature se...

Furthermore, meta-analysis can render previous assertions of results that impress to be not sustainable as favorable to be sustainable. One of the disadvantages of meta-analysis is the bias of the researcher in selection of information. However, credibility in the research results is achieved being mindful of bias through thru relations between theoretical ideas and empirical evidence, from such approach a harmonious unity of accuracy in an obtainable level of practicality for the organization (Swanson & Holton, 2005). Another significant benefit to the application of meta-analysis research is the discovery of further research criteria thru the methodology of cyclic research action for continuous redefining of the
Thank you for your contribution to this week’s discussion and enjoyed reading your post. I agree in your research that "an integrative review involves literature compilation, analysis, and synthesis of multiple findings so that a targeted clinical question is being answered." According to Mannix, Wilkes, and Daly (2013), an integrative review was chosen as the frame- work for the examination of the published literature. The rationale for choice of this approach primarily included a desire to capture empirical research that had as its focus, the characteristics of clinical leaders or leadership, irrespective of the research methods utilized. Furthermore, you may benefit from reading Ganong's Stages of an Integrative Research Review (1987),

Hi Kylee, thanks for you inputs and ideas. I like that you mentioned this, “First of all it gives a quick look into best practices as far as evidenced based practice goes. Second, I can read a literature review and decide if I need to look deeper into an article or if that article really does not pertain to my research study.” I agree with you because it is very important to understand the articles deeper, the key issues, the criticisms, the strength and weaknesses. Not only that, it is also important to know how they were applied and developed. Any why do we do literature review?
