The Theban play, Antigone, is that of loyalty, portrayal, love, tragedy, and fate. Antigone is the bold, defiant daughter of Oedipus. Her relationship with her uncle, Creon, was that of antagonist versus protagonist. Upon completion of the play, Antigone, I believe that the way in which Antigone treated Creon was “right” from beginning to end. Antigone returns to Thebes and learns of the deaths of both of her brothers, Eteocles and Polynices. Her uncle, Creon, whom had inherited the throne, allowed a proper burial for Eteocles; yet, banned a proper burial for Polynices because he considered him a traitor.
