My hand slips off the rope. I fell. I hit the ground with a hard thump. A sharp pain goes through my body but then it stops. Why did I not hurt? I am laying on a piece of wood under the play set. I cannot feel my back or my legs. I keep asking myself why? Scared now, I start to scream “mom! Mom!” I raise up my head and see her running to my aide. I can also see my legs. I pick up my arms they still work but why can I not move my legs? They feel disconnected from the rest of my body. I lay my head back on the ground and look up to see the sun high above me. I lay here numb. My mom clears the table of our breakfast plates that just a few minutes ago were covered with gravy, biscuits, and smoked ham. She then drops a load of laundry in the place where the plates had once been. “It is a beautiful day,” my mom states as she folds a blanket and lays it on the kitchen table. She grabs a couple of water bottles and continues her thought “two kids should not be inside on a day as perfect as this one. Who wants to go to the park?” My little sister, Hope, and I do not say anything about her idea. Hope shoots me a look and I know she is hoping the same thing. The mountains roll on for miles. They have to be at least a hundred of them and they are all as green as could be. We pull into the parking lot near the lake. As I step on the concert I am happy to have my feet on solid ground in this breath taking park. The sight is beautiful with the woods backing up to the lake. “Mom can we go play in the sand?” My sister begs with her bucket in hand. “Mom I want to play on the playground. I heard from a girl in my class that it is supposed to be really cool. I am not a kid anymore let me go play please?” I plead my case. My mom smiles and nods. I run off to the
