I open my eyes slowly and look around. I’m lying flat on my back on grass. Blinking, I can see I’m not alone. Kale lays to my right. I’m a bit startled to see him there. I look on my other side and see Sadie and Heather. What happened? Then I remember seeing that old lady, and Sadie and I in the bathroom. I sit up, to take in my surroundings. We’re lying in the middle of a small clearing. The trees around us are unusually huge and different plants and flowers are scattered around on bushes. I notice my friends, and I, look different too, older. We no longer have our teenager bodies, but now seemed to have reached adulthood. All of us have reached a firmer build and look more like adults instead of teenagers. Kale groans as he sits up. “My …show more content…
As we walk along I notice the forests here were much like the forests I was used to hiking in at home. The trees were nearly similar, just slightly bigger. Plants and vegetation looked more green and lush. I can also hear birds chirping as they do at home, but they sound more musical. Destiny stops at the bottom of a cliff wall and whispers something inaudible. Before I can ask her what she’s saying, the blue stone in her staff flashes and I find myself standing in a very old, authentic-looking room. Kale, Sadie, and Heather are still standing beside me. We glance at each other in awe and then take in the room. It’s fairly large, with old wooden shelves full of scrolls. Huge dust-covered books scatter around a large table. In the middle of the room is another clear, blue stone, shaped like a perfect sphere and it seems to glow inside. “Do you know your purpose here?” Destiny asks. I shake my head, as does the others. “Look into the sphere and tell me what you see.” she …show more content…
The people from your world were picked because you all have something our world does not. Our world has magic, but lacks technology. Your world has technology, but lacks magic. The simple fact that you are not magical gives us the edge we need, but I will explain that to you some other time. There are only a handful of people picked off of your world to come here, there are of every gender, so Kale is not the only man. In time, when we think you are ready, we will give you the power of a certain element, in time though. When the time is right I will bring all of your kind picked to help fight to the end. What I performed earlier was magic. I am not a sorceress, witch, or wizard. No one is allowed to know of my past or where I come from. What you saw in the sphere was only bits and pieces of your future. I can interpret only the signs that you need to know. As to trust me, that is your decision. You may go and talk it over if you wish.” Then she turns and begins reading some scrolls. The four of us look at each other. “That was quite a speech.” comments Kale. “What do you guys think?” I ask, “It 's all very weird and sudden.” “I think she 's weird, she doesn’t show her face, but she might be able to be trusted.” says Heather, “Since she seems to know everything here.” “Well, we can’t just go on and make a decision right away,” says Sadie, “We don’t know this place or for sure who this person is. Not only that,
Clint had gone to school the same way every time so he thought he would go a different way. He followed a main road and then took a new side passage that he had wondered about before. Through this side passage he came across an abandoned street, he started to walk down when he noticed that his shadow wasn't making the same movements he was. Clint rubbed his eyes and then his shadow was mimicking him again. He then decided that he would go the normal way to school like usual. Once he arrived at school he talked to his friend Zac about the abandoned street and if he had ever been there. Zac replied with " No I would never go down such a dangerous looking street, you're basically asking to get mugged" "Do you want to go down that street on the
to me that she wanted to speak to us, thought we were somebody she knew."
“No,” I tell her, running my fingers through my dark hair. I message the ache in the back of my neck, and my hand is drenched in sweat when I pull it back and look at it. The stranger gives me an odd look and shifts in her chair to make a point. “Look, honey,” she says, “you can talk to me about whatever it is that’s happening, alright?” She continues when I don’t reply. “Why are you here all by yourself?”
"Ok, now let's see what you can do with this pistol alright" I gave her five shells to load and told her, "always leave the hammer on an empty chamber for your safety" I stood behind her and watched as she took aim not expecting her to hit any of the targets. Boy was I wrong, with every shot a target flew through the air with a hole dead center. After she unloaded the pistol she motioned for me to give her more ammo. I gave her five more shells, she loaded the gun, aimed and fired with the same results. After this round was over I motioned for her to sit down a minute. Brenda was smiling and said, "how did I do" "You were great and where did you learn to shoot that way" I use to target pratice, remember I told you that" "yes I remember, but did not expect you to be so good" "Big things come in small packages she laughed. I laughed with her and said, "let's see how you do with a rifle now" I walked out about two-hundred feet and set up four targets for her and said, "all your's" Brenda steadied herself and aimed, missed the first one, raised the rifle again, and took a shot. The target went flying through the air flipping over and over. "Not bad, now and let's see if you can keep it going" I told her. She hit the other two and raised the rifle again, and I stopped her and said, "what are you shooting at" "The one I missed of course" The other target she hit knocked the down she missed so I let her have her way. She cocked the rifle, brought it up to aim and fired. Sure enough that target went down. "You are amazing and is there anything else I do not know about you smiling" "Oh there is a lot but that would take the mystery of of it wouldn't it", grinning. "I suppose and we have plenty of time to find out those things my dear" As we walked back to the cabin we held hands like two lovers that were sneaking around behind their parents back. The rest of the day we just sat on the porch and made small talk with one another. Every-now-and-then she would look at me and smile. Brenda started humming a little tune and I watched her rocking back and forth keeping time to it.
“Maybe he has something to do with Dareon existing. You know this is crazy Violet, that we are talking about a world that most likely doesn’t exist. I mean I am trying to listen to all of this and analyze it, but I can’t really relate since I have never even been there.”
Eliza blinked open her eyes and looked around. She was in a bed, it’s wooden posts carved to tight perfection. She looked up, strangely, the ceiling was made up of what seemed to be golden tree branches, laced together so thickly, it seemed that no light could get through, and none did besides the light that came in through the sides of the building, which didn’t have any walls. Then, reality hit her. Where the heck was she? All she remembered was suddenly disappearing from the lake and ending up in the forest from her dream, completely dry. Was she dead? That was the only logical answer for what was going on, but somehow it didn’t seem that way to her. Everything around her felt…well…mortal. She heard a slight gasp to her left and turned to look at where the noise had come from.
“We’re lost aren’t we?” I heard stammered from behind me. “No, we’re not we’re exploring”, came the hesitant retort,” come on let's see what up a head”. As two small figures raced past me I sighed in defeat scrambling to catch up. Truth was my siblings and I were lost in the woods, had been in fact for a good while now and still, regardless of the distance we walked the forest's edge never appeared closer.. It hadn’t been frightening at first, we came up here often and today had been lovely for walking. But now the sun whose rays shone through the forest canopy cast a cold light, giving the trees a stark, bleached visage. How strange that one wrong turn could turn the woods familiarity on its head. This is transformation at work.
There was always a new horizon to conquer for an intelligent species. The first was the domination of small areas of land. Those small areas expanded into larger areas, and soon a dominant species claimed dominion over their entire planet. When space travel first became possible, this process had repeated itself. At first they made small colonies on neighboring planets, and moons. Over the years the galaxy and beyond had been surveyed. Technology had evolved to a point of where the entire Local Group, all 54 galaxies, millions of light years under control.
"It's surprising don't you think." the man said looking to his younger counterpart, "Well me and Alexander think so that's for sure." he said with a chuckle before looking specifically at Natalie. "It doesn't take a detective to realise that they do not belong here. I don't know were they got 4000 dollars from probably stole it from some aristocrat carrying too much money." He then moved a little bit closer toward were Natalie sat offering his hand to her. "Henry Craven, we should sit down and have a chat sometime I was very excited when I saw your name on the guest list." The young man said with a obviously forced gentle smile to
“I am running Naomi Misora’s face through facial recognition and using security footage from yesterday to trace her whereabouts. It might take a while to sort through all the footage, but I should come up with something.”
Right after Roman said these words, a voice spoke from behind the shadows, "I know of a way to help him, but I don't plan on telling you three." Immediately, the three sides turned their heads to see what appeared to be a black silhouette emerging from the darkness behind the group.
"The person said something bad occurred at Sally's, and I should hurry. I hope one of those—those malfunctions she’s always helping didn’t hurt her. You know how she is. Everyone’s tried to warn her, but she won't listen."
"Because your pain, suffering, and hopelessness does more for Him than any of your foolish, hedonistic ideas of satisfaction. Wallow in the hard truths of life, cry out for restoration, and find Joy in His suffering."
“Did you know she hooked up with him??? Yeah, several times I heard. Someone told me they did the deed but I’m not sure. That’s, like, so rude. I thought she knew you’ve like loved him since the end of the tenth grade. What kind of friend does that?” Gabby said. She continued to speak about the subject while Lola asked herself the same questions as Gabby had asked her. But she already knew the answer.
I was never brilliant with words, in any context of my being, yet I can now see them all so vividly in their unlimited arrangement. Creativity seems an insurmountable idea when every thought enters your mind at once, all strung together and inseparably bound. They become so numerous that their individuality becomes incoherent and their uniqueness shines only to reveal their flaws. As I write this, I feel that for myself they hold no meaning. In fact, they seem arbitrary for the purposes of what I wish to share. And with this thought, I realize that I must carry some sense of self after all. I realize what I want you to know of me, if be known to you at all. I realize now that I want you to know that I desire to live.
