Birds chirping. City lights burning. Car horns blaring. Sun shining. The beautiful city of Chicago. The city that seems to be ever-changing. Always breathtaking, never insignificant. In the day, the sun shines above the tall ivory towers and reflecting off the glistening windows. It gives warmth to those traveling in between and brightens one’s day. In the night, as the day turns dark, the city becomes bright as one by one, the light pierces the night sky. The wind gives a subtle breeze that carries voices that could be heard from high above.

A familiar sound, yet somehow different. Blinding rays of sun pound on any bare skin that it can find. Out of breath, yet every time a breath is taken it tastes somehow more fresh than those that were taken just hours ago. Water has never tasted as good as it does now. People’s viewpoint of Chicago was reversed into knowing how strong Chicago could be when its people come together as one. Chicago was able to prove itself as a dominant city in America. With the help of Burnham, Ferris, and all the other architects and inventors, Chicago excelled in hosting the World’s Fair. Without these people, the fair would not have been able to become even close to how incredible it turned out with them running it. In the United States there are many highly populated, big cities that exist. They not only serve as purpose for business and industry, but also serve as homes for many people. Chicago, the third highest populated city in the United States, can be defined in several different ways. Carl Sandburg a fan and native of Chicago describes the city. Sandburg describes the city in different ways with his poems “Chicago” and “Skyscraper.” Both poems portray the city as lively and dominant, but the poem "Skyscraper" acknowledges drawbacks of the city.
It was three O’clock and school gets out at three O’two. I was so excited, when the bell rang I was as fast a cheetah getting out of there. Hearing the horns of traffic and the smell of a downtown, smokey Chicago. The only bad part is me having to walk/run home in some of the scariest, darkest, and some of the most dangerous streets in Chicago. Most streets have a gang associated with them. The ninth street has Cinco’s on them, one of the smelliest streets in Chicago. The twelfth street has the Lamonsta gang, some of the strangest people. I live on fifteenth street but I always see lights flashing on sixteenth and I have heard stories that if people go down it they don’t come back.
The Chennai Express train route begins in south of India, and passes through the infinite plains of the Indian countryside. The mountainous terrain ahead can be seen from distance as the train approaches the hillside city of Shimla. In the expanse, a traveller may observe an intermittent figure somewhere, perhaps a woman walking with water pots layered upon her head towards a small village. The train then would begin to ascend a shallow ridge. From here one can see what appears to be a town at the bottom of the hills, in the heat-distorted distance. As I walked down the sidewalk, my nose picked up the salty scent of the sea breeze. I looked ahead and saw the gleaming beach in the far distance. Upon arrival into the jungle of vast buildings, the first thing noticed is the mobbed streets filled with taxi cabs and cars going to and fro in numerous directions, with the scent of exhaust surfing through the air. As you progress deeper into the inner city and exit your vehicle, the aroma of the many restaurants passes through your nostrils and gives you a craving for a ?NY Hot Dog? sold by the street venders on the corner calling out your name. As you continue your journey you are passed by the ongoing flow of pedestrians talking on their cell phones and drinking a Starbucks while enjoying the city. The constant commotion of conversing voices rage up and down the streets as someone calls for a fast taxi. A mixed sound of various music styles all band together to form one wild tune.
1. The place was extremely dark. Not the type of dark where your eyes would adjust eventually, but such a darkness that you couldn't even see your hand right in front of your face. It was 1 o'clock in the morning, to make matters worse. You could hear the people walking nearby but you couldn't exactly distinguish when they were going to inevitably scare you. Your friends had forced you to go into this special haunted house, and you were terrified. The air was cold with anticipation and you had mentally cursed your friends for doing this to you. They knew haunted houses were your biggest fear, but they still managed to get you to walk in, trembling from fear and shivering from the nervousness that the eerie music that played in the air gave you.

Fortunately, I wake every morning to the most beautiful sun lit house. I sit on my porch sipping coffee, while I drink in an atmosphere that steals my breath away. Rolling hills lay before me that undulate until they crash into golden purple mountains. Oh how they are covered in spectacular fauna, ever blooming foliage, and trees that are heavy with pungent fruit. Green it is always so green here at my house.
