My favorite is corned beef and cabbage. Being of Irish American descent, this dish was tradition in my house on St. Patrick’s Day. Just mentioning corned beef and cabbage brings me back to my childhood, watching my mother prepare it and waiting to taste the salty meat that as a child I called the “stringy meat.” Every year my mother would prepare the dish and everyone would sit down and enjoy it together. By everyone I mean my parents, my four brothers, four sisters and myself. As my mother was preparing the meat and peeling and cutting the vegetables, the rest of us would help her out by cleaning up and setting the table.
My mother always comes up with ways to make vegetables taste delicious. Her meals are so mouthwatering that it is known throughout the neighborhood. Occasionally, we would have many guests over during the holidays. Partying and enjoying the nice atmosphere around the dining room, however, I 've noticed that they are all there impatiently waiting for my mother 's famous chicken fettuccine pasta dish. This is when my mother is the happiest.
I went there so far 4 times in my life 2000 , 2005 , 2008 and 2010. The reason I visit there is too see my Grandmother’s and Grandfather’s grave. I see all my family around it and visit my camp. We cook our amazing lamb that we put lots of salt on it so its really salty. I love visiting my other Grandfather and Grandmother's house where we make more awesome food like our beef sausage and our special pumpkin pie and we have to make it together or we would break the tradition.
However, we are headed out. Passing up the opportunity to indulge in a quick and easy breakfast at some fast-food joint, we are headed to the Boyne City Farmer's Market for some good local eats and a little shopping. The market is small in the winter months, but I managed to pick up eggs, two spaghetti quash, the sweetest of winter carrots and a little treat for dinner – locally crafted ravioli, stuffed with their own pork and hand-made cheese. As I was happily munching on one of those carrots, I was inspired to write about how such a simple thing can bring me happiness. What you will gain from this, is a little appreciation for the hard work they put forth in providing good, wholesome and healthy food every day, without complaint.

Mom’s Creamy Potato Soup One reason I like fall is because of the crisp, cool mornings. Football is very big at my house. That is very apparent in the fall. After his 2-hour “fighting” with food in the kitchen, banging pans and mumbling under his breath, finally, his soup was shown out. At that time, it seemed like I was rescued, because I had to wait so long for a meal, not like with my mom’s cooking. At first look, the bowl of soup was not bad at all. In the big bowl, the soup looked so delicious and colorful with many colors of vegetable and meat such as carrots, mushrooms, ch... ... middle of paper ... ...eive a delicious meal, even a normal meal, but behind the meal, it meant a lot. I received so much love from my family and I started realizing and appreciating the value of family in my life from that night.
Especially after the meat cooks for a while, and I open the lid and a white cloud of smoke emerges into my face like when a car burns out and I just inhale then exhale the aroma of the meat. My family and I love to bar-b-que for Easter, so we invite our friends and family to come to our house to have fun and to have a memorable time.
