Counseling Associates First meeting: It was pretty basic. I went in unsure if I actually wanted to go into the career path. I had a pretty set idea (well as much as a teenager can) of what I want to do in the future. Alla was very excited about doing the job shadow and I was hesitant but her enthusiasm soothed my worry. I was concerned about what to wear not because of girlness but because I didn’t want to be too serious looking yet I didn’t want to seem like I was taking what she was doing for granted. We came to a conclusion that there is a certain amount of stigma that comes with seeing a therapist and that the name might help because it’s not making the client feel like they have to hide it or feel ashamed. Fifth meeting: When a person is in college they are taught to pick a theory that they are to use with every client. She talked about how this isn’t always the case and that when you get certain clients you have to change how the session goes based on how they act and why they are there. We went through the DMS-5 and talked through different theories and approaches. It was pretty interesting, I’m a sucker for anything with
