A woman’s breasts will most likely be seen while watching any TV show. They’re always hangin’ out in popular movies. They’re at the beach in tiny bikinis. They’re at the mall in store windows. A woman’s breasts are even exploited to entice a consumer to buy a certain product. A woman’s breasts are well received as sexual objects, and detected as indecent, and improper when serving as they’re natural purpose. Nourishing a child is the biological reason for a woman’s breasts. Women’s breasts are made of specialized tissue that produces milk (webmd.com,2014). A mother will often need to breastfeed her child in public due to feedings not being determined by a set schedule. According to Womenshealth.org, the United States would save $2.2 billion per year if women breastfeed their children. Medical care costs are lower for fully breastfed infants, than never breastfed infants. Breastfed infants usually need fewer sick care visits, prescriptions, and hospitalizations (womenshealth.gov,2014). Women should not be scorned for choosing to breastfeed in public. A society that supports nursing mothers, produces healthy families. Breastfeeding offers society not only improved health of children and mothers but also economic and environmental benefits (tensteps.org,2016). Breastmilk is environmentally friendly. There are no packages to be dumped into the already overflowing landfills. Breastfed babies tend to become sick less. Fewer visits to the ER equal to less money spent on healthcare costs. The cost to supply a baby with artificial formula is very expensive. Supporting a mother’s choice to breastfeed could mean less taxes being allocated to supplemental programs like WIC and SNAP. Breastfeeding in public is discouraged, and a nursing mother frequently experiences ridicule if she must nurse her child in public. A top concern for woman to choose not to breastfeed, is to avoid being scorned by society. Society feels that breastfeeding is an intimate act and should only take place in a private setting. Breastfeeding is normal, natural, and not in any way a sexual act. A woman’s breasts are sacks that fill with milk in order for a woman to nourish her child. If a mother chooses not to breastfeed, she and her child miss out on an extremely beneficial experience. Breastfed babies have fewer illnesses and disease, and require fewer sick visits to the pediatrician, which leads to savings in healthcare costs. A woman’s right to breastfeed in public is protected by the government. Society ought to abide by the laws set by the government which protect a woman who nurses in a public
