‘’Cosmetic surgery is a medical procedure that alters normal structures of the body for cosmetic reasons.’’ (Davidson) Around 15 million people per year have some kind of cosmetic surgery. The purpose of cosmetic surgery is to change a body part that an individual is unhappy with. Cosmetic surgery is not medically necessary, but it does carry all risks of any surgery. There are many types of cosmetic surgery. Some of the most common procedures include: Face lift, nose surgery, forehead lift, breast augmentation (breast implants), tummy tuck, spider vein removal, and liposuction. Many people should ask themselves, what is cosmetic surgery, why shouldn’t I have cosmetic surgery, and the reasons it would be acceptable. People consider surgery without knowing why they want it done. For example, if a person were to say they want cosmetic surgery for their nose but there is nothing wrong with it. That is an excellent scenario for someone who doesn’t know what they want.
Many people have cosmetic surgery. Cosmetic surgery is a medical procedure to alter a person’s appearance. Although those that have it don’t always care for themselves afterwards. Cosmetic surgery is focused on enhancing appearance through surgical and medical techniques. Any health problems can increase the risks of cosmetic surgery. Such as heart or cardiovascular problems, type 2 diabetes, those who smoke or drink. Smoking also increases the risk of scar formation. ‘’The risks also include pain and redness at site, infection inside the body, and unseen problems, etc.’’ (Gale) The aftercare for cosmetic surgery isn’t always done properly by the patient. ...experiments, sports, etc. A person should only have cosmetic surgery if it is medically needed. Otherwise find alternatives to boost your self-esteem. Such as hang out with friends, change your appearance by clothing or hair style. Never do something as drastic as cosmetic surgery without thinking of other options first.
