The inclination toward God is a sentiment common to all of mankind, as all humans are born knowing that there is a higher power. In the Holy Quran, God says:
“Set your face steadily towards the true faith, turning away from all that is false, in accordance with the natural disposition which God has instilled into man. Nothing can change God’s creation. Such is the ever-true faith; but most people do not know it” (Quran 30:30).
In this verse from the Holy Quran, God is conveying how He has put in the heart of every human an inclination towards Him. It is, then, the individual who chooses either the straight path toward God or traverses a separate one. Islam, which calls humanity to the worship of one God and the belief in His messengers, has satisfied the hearts of many individuals seeking a genuine faith. Identified as the fastest growing religion in America, according to Naoual, E (2010), Islam has accumulated a substantial following, particularly from African Americans and the immigrant community. Islam, which is currently the fastest growing religion in America, is expected to increase by about 35% percent in the next 20 years. It is projected to increase from 1.6 billion in 2010 to 2.2 billion by 2030 world wide, according to new population projections by the Pew Research Center’s Forum on Religion & Public Life (Pew forum, 2011). The number of people of the Islamic faith living in Canada is expected to nearly triple in the next 20 years, from about 940,000 in 2010 to nearly 2.7 million in 2030. Muslims are expected to make up 6.6% of Canada’s total population in 2030, up from 2.8% today (Pewforum, ...

In addition, one great challenge American Muslim converts face is the clash between conventional Western ideologies and the traditional Muslim ideology. Converts who are born and raised in America may face challenges with relating to the Muslim culture compared to their American culture. A majority of westerners believe that Islam is a religion that restricts women both in their private and public life.
Today, it is reported that around 5 million muslims reside in America, and 24.9% of the world population is of the Islamic faith. It is estimated that in 2030 there will be 2.2 billion muslims in the world. All of these statistic may draw questions as to why the number of muslims worldwide and in America is growing so dramatically?
