Book editors have a great influence on today’s society and media. Their job isn’t just to make books ready for publishing, but also to provide a great final product for the people. When a story is sent to an editor, the draft is read, edited, and sent back to the writer. Once the writer has made the necessary corrections, the story can be prepared for publication. Editors play a critical role in the content we read. In current society, with new technology and the inclusion of convergence, editors provide the essential difference between professional work and self-made fame. Convergence has been included in many forms of media, bringing the information we used to see only on paper onto a digital medium. For book editors in general, books are beginning to be digitized, making it essential that editors have the capacity to edit regular information, as well as using digital media. Books are now on popular technologies such as the iPhone or Kindle. They provide ease of access and make it possible to have many different forms of media in one device. For example, many technologies enable people in the workforce to open a document from a coworker while simultaneously editing a book using software to help. An editor may decide to take on a client simply because she shares the same viewpoints. Publishing works that convey a political message could be an example of propaganda (Pavlik, 2014). Spreading a message that may not be entirely truthful can provide a gain for the writer and editor alike. This could be present in books about political figures. Publishers wishing to have a certain person in power may write about that individual, possibly embellishing some of the words to make the figure seem even better. Consent from manufacturers is also prevalent today for the reason that, a work will not be published if it does not follow the guidelines of the editor, publisher, or manufacturer, making it harder to find professionals that will take risky
