In an effort to encourage and assist local students at the Paul Laurence Dunbar High School in Fort Worth, Texas, the Law Offices of Eberstein & Witherite have chosen to establish a scholarship fund designed to provide financial assistance to deserving graduating students. The scholarship was originally intended to be awarded to only 2 lucky students. However, after sitting in on the reviewing panel, Amy Witherite, one of the partners in the law firm, was impressed with what she saw and her.
In fact, Amy was so impressed after meeting and talking with each of the students, that instead of sticking to the original plan to offer 2 scholarships, she decided that each of the 9 students nominated should be offered a scholarship. Each of the scholarships offered by Eberstein & Witherite is worth $1,000.

Peggy got a part-time job and continued her studies at a local community college. Soon she received a scholarship to a four-year university and enjoyed every moment of it. In the end, Peggy inspired us to take charge of our own future, and not to neglect our work. She taught us that no one else is to blame for the choices we

The love Tracy Thomas has for helping and counseling children has encouraged her to begin her own youth group entitled Y.F.A.I.T.H (Youth Fixing Attitudes Impacting Things Happening). The group focuses on children who do not have the best attitude to better themselves and their attitudes. The youth group is targeted more towards young ladies who are at risks for steering their lives in the wrong direction, but she also likes to help and encourage young men to better themselves as well. Right now she is working on being able to give the young people of Y.F.A.I.T.H. grants and scholarships to attend college.
I joined the UPS Scholars program because I wanted to enter the Atlanta Public School System and create change. Since joining the program, I have completed over 300 hours of community service, as well as built relationships with students that have changed not only my perspective on educational enrichment, but my life. These kids help me overcome any obstacle that is in my way because they hold me accountable. I can’t them enough for
When individuals think of scholarships, they tend to believe of the free money through the government, small or large business, and just a person who wants to make a difference. However, when thinking of scholarships, I realize the opportunities of organization(s) is helping me reach my dreams and goals throughout life. In addition, organizations helping reach my goals will influence other individuals to go through the same path as I am. During this essay, I’ll discuss the specific demographic that will help my patients by using my nursing skills, how my background has helped me realize the importance of contributing to my community, and most importantly the less fortunate than myself.
Undoubtedly, anybody who live in a stratified society can realize that they would not be where they are if it was not for a special someone pursuing interest into their livelihood. People withholding the appreciation of promoting significant change towards another’s livelihood could be our teachers, brethren, coworkers, and even deceased souls. Personally, the person who withholds the title of having a significant impact on my life is my undaunted, older sister Cynthia Chisholm. Since childhood, she changed my perspective on life, and created challenges that I yet to overcome; however, I continuously kept striving for the completion of my desired objective. Notably, Cynthia Chisholm, my sister, truly holds the title of having a significant
In June of 2018, Jasmin Sierra became the first in her family to graduate high school on time, and the following autumn becomes the first in her family to take the route of graduating college. Coming from parents who couldn’t receive an education like her, she took the responsibility to provide her family a better life. She saw her parents struggle every day to provide for her family, and I wanted to change that. She wanted to help them financially and set an example for her younger siblings. Her family is very important to her because they are her support and without them, she would not be where she is today. However, being a first-generation college student had its struggles and perks of its own.
This year in AVID, all 8th grade students went on a trip to the Milpitas Pantry. This field trip for AVID wasn’t just to go look around and a have the day off, it had a purpose. As AVID students, we were given the assignment to create a video, along with three classmates, that explained the benefits of donating, or not, to the Milpitas Food Pantry. Our video would then be shared throughout TRMS and everyone would get to see. From watching the videos, Students learn that donating to the Jack Emery Food Drive, which goes to the Food Pantry, can make a major difference in someone’s life. The project’s purpose for AVID taught me, along with my group, how to influence others into making a difference to help their community

The University of Miami is a top ranked private university in the United States, and while very diverse, it was not an easy task to find a student who fit the profile of a first generation college student whose parents were born and raised in the United States. After a long search, I came across a girl I’ll call Sarah. Sarah is attending the University of Miami on a scholarship to run on the schools Division I girls cross country and track team. Sarah attended high school in a large suburb just outside of Chicago, Illinois where she ran cross country and track before being recruited to UM. As a member of the university’s environmental club called the “Green Team,” Sarah has used her passion for a clean environment to inspire her to study environmental engineering while here in her first year of studies. Although Sarah is only freshman, she has completed just about one semester at the University of Miami, is quite a...
...r. With all of the downfalls that I have experienced in my academic and personal life a college education will make it possible for me to continue my journey into becoming a prestigious working corporate lawyer. I have the drive for success and I am certain that with this scholarship I would be able to pay off my debt and help my mother with her own educational goals. I was content that I was able to encourage her to attend school and I am most fortunate to be given an opportunity to help both her and myself obtain our ultimate goals for the near future. Thank You so much for this opportunity to compose this essay to you about my experiences in the academic arena and why I am deserving of this course. I am most deserving of this opportunity and I wish you and your organization much success for endowing me with this opportunity to be a candidate for your scholarship.
If you have an example of a participant who has been particularly impacted by your program, please tell us how he or she was affected. Note that this story may be shared with other funders and the public.
The scholarship is funded by a grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. I had to complete a personal statement essay, get recommendations and also have an interview. It was a competitive scholarship I knew it was because some of my classmates who applied weren’t accepted into the scholarship program. It was an amazing opportunity and it jump started my future in many ways. I had the chance to attend a college for a week to gain some college experience and also meet new people. It was amazing and I knew that god gave me the knowledge and the strength to get the scholarship.
Olivia Kehoe is an extraordinary young woman! I have known Olivia four years as International Baccalaureate (IB) Coordinator, working closely with her on community-wide service projects. Throughout high school, Olivia has distinguished herself as a student filled with passion, enthusiasm, and excitement about the mission of the International Baccalaureate Program- “to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.” It has been my privilege to observe her commitment to continuous personal growth through hard work, discipline, humility, and compassion. She is also an advocate for children and adults with special needs. Olivia personifies the selection criteria of the Foot Locker Scholar Athletes scholarship.
It was during my second year of high school that I first heard of the Pruitt Memorial Scholarship. I suddenly felt hope for my future. Hope that I would be able to attend college, and hope that I would be given the chance to fight for my very large dreams. My passion is theatre and my goal is that someday I will be able to teach others about my passion and spread the magic of theatre around the world, but to be able to do that requires lots of education. The Pruitt Memorial Scholarship opened the door for me to pursue this dream. Now, I just had to acquire the scholarship, and that meant performing volunteer community-service.
