Continuing professional development (CPD) means that professionals participate in learning activities to further improve the quality of their learning and develop their abilities and to update their learning continuously. It enables them to set goals and work to achieve them, so going above and beyond any initial training. A work placement offers you the chance to access good experience spending time working for an employer and carrying out duties within the company as a normal employer would. Volunteering is an opening for the individual to gain more skills and have access to training and resources that support your career development. This can range from working in a hospital to supporting and shadowing in a care home. CPD should lead to you making changes to how you work which improves the service that you provide and the delivery to the service user will make sure that they are happy and healthy. For example, a CPD activity which has improved your practice because you have gained new skills, and as a result of this you are able to provide a better service to the service
