Considering your lifetime goals, discuss how your current and future academic and extra-curricular activities might help you achieve your goals.
I believe the fields of engineering and computer science have had a marked, positive impact on the world and opportunities for continued progress are unlimited. My strengths and natural curiosity lie in the STEM field and I look forward to contributing to future endeavors. Given my affinity for computing and mathematics and interest in continued study in related fields, it was a natural fit for me to apply to the University of Texas at Austin due to the strong reputation of its STEM academics. UT Austin’s program in computer science, my area of interest, is among the top-ranked

As captain, my key responsibility is to lead the development of competition strategy. Other duties past and present consist of programming, designing, and driving. In the four years of my membership, our club has made remarkable progress. Not only has it doubled in membership, but we have transitioned from a novice group with no wins, to a more-engaged team that now consistently places among the top in our area. The change has been a rewarding one for all. Like any start-up organization, we faced challenges. Fortunately, our team had a cooperative and open environment, along with a dedication to work together to advance each other’s skills and knowledge for mutual …show more content…
Running is a passion of mine, in particular long distance events. I enjoy the sport’s combination of team-spirit and personal endurance challenge. Of my non-academic extracurricular activities, my role as Senior Class Officer is one I am proudest of as it enables me to contribute to the overall community, further developing my leadership skills, and I am honored by the trust of my classmates who elected me. Involvement in our broader communities is an important part of personal development. Since the age of 16, I’ve volunteered for Habitat for Humanity, working on construction projects to building affordable housing in our community. I look forward to continue with similar activities as I explore the multiple facets of UT Austin campus
When I found out that I was one of the captains of the Varsity Sideline team, I had a beaming smile and felt satisfied with my achievement. As captain, cheerleaders on the varsity and the JV squads come to me with questions and small issues, and I enjoy the opportunity to help them. I have become even more organized and mature because the coach looks to me for help. Being selected as lead captain has had many rewards, it gave me a boost of confidence and inspired me to campaign for other leadership
Ever since I was little I wanted to be a captain just like my older sister. Back then I thought it was just a cool label, but in my past three years as a TCHS cheerleader I have quickly learned the amount of dedication and hard work this position entails. I qualify for being a captain because I have a good attitude, work well with others, and always put in an effort to work hard.
I aspired to play a significant leadership role in all of the activities someday, and over the course of my high school career, I thankfully have. This year as a senior, the student body elected me as the president of Student Council; members of National Honor Society (NHS) did the same; future business leaders elected me as the vice president of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA); and I received the votes to secure the office of secretary in the local Future Farmers of America (FFA) chapter. Coaches and teammates have named me as an important asset as well. Over the years, these opportunities have presented me with many chances to enjoy extracurricular involvement, meet new people, and mature into a

As a senior at Woodside High School, it is my goal to stay focused so that I will graduate in June, the year of 2015. My grades have always been superior; I have been on the honor roll every marking period since my freshmen year in high school. I am involved in many extracurricular activities that I love participating in to help others. I have previously volunteered at Greenwood Elementary school, and also at my church. Furthermore, I have been involved in certain clubs, cheerleading, as well as the dance magnet for my four years at Woodside High.
It reminds me of just how fortunate I am to be able to help others, despite the sacrifice of time it often takes to do so. The overall sacrifice of participating in these activities inside and outside of school has been well worth it. I have learned so many life lessons and have greatly improved my own character along the way, helping me to pave the way to reaching my future goal. In all, I have learned to accomplish my goals and work towards my dreams in life. An important aspect of reaching my future goal of having an impact on the world involves deciding how I am going to make this impact. I have been researching the subject for months and, taking into account my own strengths and passions and have decided to act. I participated in a program at Oklahoma State University called Discover Architecture over this past summer, and it gave me an insightful look into the fields of architecture, landscape architecture, architectural engineering, and construction science. Through this experience I have discovered that I do have a passion and aptitude for both architecture and engineering fields, and I have looked further into finding universities with these
Needless to say, I understood why I was chosen as captain. I proved to everyone that I was in fact ready to take on this role. I thank my teammates and coaches for giving me the opportunity to show them that I was able to be a role model for the team. It made me realize that anything is possible regardless of how hard it might be there
For many new ventures, the entrepreneurial team is often considered one of the most important factors that determine the success of the business (Sahlman). A breakthrough idea or brilliant new market opportunity cannot be built nor sustained without a “superb entrepreneur” and the support of a “first-rate team”, which appeals to both investors outside the company and propagates a strong culture inside the organization (Bygrave). As demonstrated in the film, Startup.com, human capital not only consists of individual skills to produce an entrepreneurial idea, but it also encompasses the necessary social networks and team dynamics needed for collaborative tasks to sustain an opportunity. The documentary provides a rare and intimate look at govWorks,
As a student, I am an active participant in my academic and extracurricular activities. My first priority has always been to make good grades and learn in school. Although this is important to me, I also know that by participating in clubs, sports, and after school activities, I will become a well-rounded student. During the past years of my high school career I have participated and received awards in the following: Cheerleading (eight years), twice as captain, '97 -'98 Varsity Letter in Cheerleading, '98 AIM scholar, Who's Who Among American Cheerleaders, and '98 Academic Excellence Award while participating in Virginia High School League Interscholastic Activities. I also belonged to the following clubs: S.A.D.D. club (two years), second year as secretary, Pep Club, Varsity Club, Choir Club, and Computer Club. In the year '99 -'00 I received awards in the following classes: Computer Applications, Spanish I, World Geography, and Advanced Algebra/Trigonometry. I also received an award for Most Encouraging Student. I currently belong to the Hiking and Outdoor Club, Ski Club, Pep Club, and Environmental Awareness Club. In addition, this year I participate in a program called Read With A Friend. In this program I, along with a group of other students, go to the near by elementary school to read to a class of students from kindergarten to fifth grade.
After this project, I have skills in engineering, which will help me excel in this program. This also shows that if I feel strongly for something, I will definitely

Reflecting on some of the extra-curricular activities I have engaged in these past two years
During high school, you either become a member of a club or an athlete. In my case, I decided to be part of Student Council so I could be more involved in school activities. All of the student council members were required to run for a leadership position, from president to class representative. When senior year came, I knew I wanted to run for a competitive and very important position. And that’s exactly what happened, I decided to run for senior class president, but I never expected such an outcome.
During my first visit and experience of NEIU’s campus I was shocked and utterly amazed by the rich, vast amount of experiences it had to offer. Last November, It had been dwelling on my mind for quite some time to visit various campuses in lieu of my upcoming graduation in May of 2016. Finishing my Associate’s Degree in Computer Science from Triton College, Northeastern Illinois University became a point of interest for making my transition, offering the appeals of scholarship opportunities, undergraduate study programs and hope for my educational goals. My friend Isaac and I were given a stellar tour of the campus by a fellow student ambassador, Daniela, who did such an outstanding job at introducing Isaac and me to the warm, welcoming environment
I 'm involved in numerous extracurricular activities that will help me achieve my goals. For example, I am the current treasurer of (FBLA) The Future Business Leaders of America, Member of (DECA) it 's an international association for marketing that prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in finance, hospitality and management. Additionally, I am an active member with Upstanders, a club that stands up against bullying and hate; (ASA) The African Student Association and the National Art Honor Society. All of these extra-curricular activities are preparing me for future obstacles on my collegiate
