I would describe myself as conscientious, hard-working, & athletic. Both on and off the court, I make sure that I am putting forth my best effort so that I can succeed in the present and in the future. For conscientious, I can relate to my previous experiences in high school. All of my teachers on my report card commented that I was a conscientious student. In all of my classes, I would take very thorough/detailed notes in all of my classes. On every test and assignment given to me, I ensured that I put forth my best effort and if I didn’t know the answer to a test question, I took my best guess. If I was falling behind in a class, I would see my teacher for extra help and also set aside time to review my notes and do practice questions/tests to ensure my understanding of the material. …show more content…
For the trait of hard-working, I can relate this in particular to basketball. In every practice/basketball training session, I treat it as if it was my last time playing basketball. I work myself out so hard that I cannot feel my legs the next day. Especially during my offseason, I trained intensely for 3-5 hours a day, perfecting my craft and passion. In the end, it will pay off to ensure that I create success for my teammates as well as for myself. I then translated my great work ethic in basketball to school and in every day of life. I try never taking life for granted it and never dawg anything I do. I alway put forth my maximal effort whether it’s in basketball, academics, or being a better person. As far as being athletic, psychically I am fit. I have muscle mass and wear athletic clothing a majority of the time. This identifies me as being an athlete through my physical traits I show to society. A trait that does not portray my personality is arrogant. I do not feel as if I am the best person in the world. This is justified whenever I am socializing with my
In the novel, What the Best College Students Do written by Ken Bain, we learn about how college student goes through rough times in their college life. The author brings up a common issue that occurs in the academic life of college students. It is the need of having self confidence and self esteem. Bain believes that if a student loves and admires themselves it will give the student a better advantage of having a well-being lifestyle than all their other peers that are having difficulties. Many college students focus mainly on their grades other than the knowledges that they are learning in class. The idea of having perfect grades in all the subjects are limiting the students from approaching activities that they might be interested.
I have been a four year letter-winner in volleyball and basketball. Athletics have been a crucial part of developing my character and work ethic. In sports, you must work together with your team to reach your goals. Trust and communication skills are vital and are tested every day. The failure and setbacks I have faced through sports have helped me to believe in myself and have the self-confidence that it takes to be successful in athletics and in life. As a senior captain of the volleyball and basketball teams, my leadership has improved tremendously as high school has progressed. Being a leader holds me accountable and I aim to be a role model for younger teammates on the court, in the classroom, and in the community.
My name is Joshua I am a 20-year-old college sophomore at Georgia Perimeter College. I eat very well, which I have found is in complete contrast with my college peers. According to the National Health Awareness, has an overall average 30% for US colleges and Universities college students tend to skip one meal a day. Most college students don't even know what a healthy diet is, and a large percentage of students who are aware of proper nutrition choose to ignore it. One must have a good diet, learn to plan a good diet by sticking to a consistent routine, and stay away from fast food diet.
My first year of high school I did not take things seriously and I was not focused or organized. Soon after I applied to a program called AVID which was a college preparation program, I was accepted for my sophomore year. This helped me to have a serious attitude when it comes to working and to be well organized. Without this class I would not be as focused and eager to do what I want to in life today. If I had to describe myself in three words these three words would have to be disciplined, determined, and persistent. I am a student who is able to stay focused on a challenge or topic I am given, when I start on that challenge I complete it. I am highly motivated to become successful in life and reach the goals I have set for myself. Although they are big goals I am determined to work hard and learn whatever it takes in order to be successful, Maybe one day I will be the person I see myself as, sitting at a desk with other people coming up with a creation which would one day affect the lives of many

I have always gone the extra mile in school to get the best grades possible. I spend hours a night doing homework, and making note cards/study guides for test because retaining knowledge the first time does not always come easy to me. In basketball I have put in extra time to improve my skills, by staying late after practice or walking to a nearby school to use their outside basketball courts. I’ve also had to work hard to be a team captain, and to be the type of team captain that any of my teammates could turn to for help in
There are many different characteristics to being a student, whether that is being a good student or a bad student. I would like to consider myself as a good student- I always get my work done and am respectful. I admit that sometimes I do tend to procrastinate and I am a little bit unorganized. As a student I like to ask questions whenever I do not understand Something, even though sometimes I do not understand something because I was not paying attention.
I am hardworking because I had two summer jobs. I worked at the Medomak camp retreat center. After weeks of hard working 7hour days and 1 day off a week. I got laid off, because it was the end of the season and there was only 2 weeks left until closing. So I went down the road the the Medomak camp family camp to the director who got me hired at my first job, and for the rest of the summer watched his 3 year old twins Lyla and Areya.
Over my last 17 years I have been relying on one talent to take me places and get what I want and that would be being athletic. Whether it was getting me all them first place medals in wrestling, helping our team win state in baseball, or playing almost every position on the football team, I always count on my athleticism. My athleticism allows me to do certain things that is hard for a regular person
I have played sports ever since I was two or three. People often say I am a fun person to be around. I put myself around people that are a good influence on me. Not only do I focus on what is right for me, but how other people feel also. I am a very caring person I love to see people be happy and have a smile on their face.
Once another week passed, my math teacher announced that there was a test next week. I felt annoyed about another test, but I knew I had to do well on the test to get an A in the class. After learning the advice my mom gave me, I decided to try it. When I got home, I did my homework and studied for my classes. Also, when I felt confused on my work, I asked my teachers for help.
I noticed how everyone else progressed while on the other hand, I stayed behind, occasionally clueless of what was going on. Back then I was a quiet and shy kid too embarrassed to ask for help, I believed I could learn everything by myself. One of our hardest assignments was to write a brief story about ourselves and present it in front of the whole class. At first I doubted myself that I could write one, but I somehow managed to do so with the guidance of my older brother. The following day, I read over and over again the story that I would present to make sure I had everything down and ready.
I have done my best to make it to every class possible, I know I have missed some, but not by choice. When I do miss class I always ask others about what I missed and I try to catch up. I read and review the material whenever I can find the time, during breaks, when I get home and in the morning before class. A few days I have lots of time and most others, not so much. I have reminders set on my phone to remind me of due dates and quizzes and some peers that also send me reminders.
The lessons were challenging and I struggled to keep up with the pace of my classmates. For this reason, I often reviewed the material and prepared for tests and examinations well in advance. However, my results did not reflect my commitment. I often left school in tears and questioned if there was a purpose to my efforts. I eventually had the courage to ask for help, which was given generously
Most of my life I have been involved in a sport. During my youth, I could not decide on a single sport to dedicate my time to, so I played several. Every sport I practiced brought different workouts and required that I learn new abilities. As I came to see I was not talented at the new abilities needed to succeed in the new sport, but every time I tried something new I would have months of training and coaching before the first game. After the first game, I would realize that my hard work in the trainings allowed me to acquire new abilities and had made me seem as a talented player. Author Joseph Chris states this in his article “Natural talent vs Hard Work” “…hard-working individuals can develop a certain talent or skill, which can imply that natural gift is just the result of long and hard work.” Not only did I experience firsthand how hard work overcomes talent as Joseph
