1) Why did you initially choose this article out of the list? I picked this particular Article because I wanted to see if there are more crimes being committed because of the possible desperation people may have when they have children and families and have lost everything there homes, Jobs, and maybe even a Spouse. I was interested in the title wondering what poverty has to do with crime. Is it an accurate assumption that people who are without would commit crimes to survive? I personally think that this Article and the video I watched on You Tube with Barbara Ehrenreich were very interesting. She is a really good Journalist. I like that she not only writes about what she is passionate about but that she went out and worked low end jobs and tried to actually live off the money she was earning. The part in Article about (Stop underpaying people for the jobs they do). This made me think. 2) Please give the proper referencing for what you have chosen. Then name 1 other article or book the author(s) has written (also cite; use Ebsco host or Google Scholar with author(s) name to find out, they have all written other things. Use middle initial if you need clarity.) Don’t forget to add both to the reference page. Books: Ehrenreich, Barbara: Turning poverty into a crime (Nickel and Dimed)( Published in 2001) Ehrenreich, Barbara: Bait and Switched (2005) 3) What was the title; in what ways did the title reflect, or not reflect the content? The title I chose was Turning Poverty in a Crime. This Article was on point with how it isn’t the people who are criminals it seems more like the Government and some of the laws we have are backwards or broken the problem with this is people do abuse the system and it makes it so hard for people that really do need help to get it. She talks about a man a husband a father that hurt his back at work and to get on Social security he needs to have an ex-ray done on his back for proof of the injury. He has no health insurance and is expected to have to pay $800.00 dollars just for him to get the x-ray to turn it in proving his injuries, no job, no insurance, and no money to pay for the x-ray. Like Barbara says catch 22. It upsets me cause I see so many people like my sister a single mom works an ok job to make it and just to do anything fun she has to work overtime.
