What is community? Community is a group of people living in the same place or having a particular characteristic in common (Stevenson, 2010). For many a community is not just a place or group of people living together; but a feeling one receives when feeling connected to another human being or a group of human beings. This connectedness helps aid in building community relationships and bonds that in turn holds everything together. If a neighborhood has no insight of what connectedness is the hopes of building a community is lost. Without interrelationships amongst one another and especially the thought of being a part of something more than self is what makes up a community. In society when the people (public) loses assurance in the justice system, the risk heighten that many will under-report criminal misconduct. “Citizen involvement in policing has become rather popular. First police has reached out to the communities to establish a good rapport with citizens. Second, citizens has come to the police agencies to learn and participate in various aspects of policing profession. Finally, citizen involvement has been a two way street, with citizens and police collaborating to address the crime problem” (Worrall, 2015). Throughout many nations the concept of combatting crimes requires impute of the citizens within the communities. In the same instance the people have a right to expect the justice system to be able to defend the community and punish offenders.
