In Kurt Vonnegut's "Harrison Bergeron" society's demand for conformity leads to death. The story is shown from the perspective of a couple, who is also Harrison's parents, watching tv. George and Hazel, Harrison's parents, are watching the television when suddenly their program switches to the news to show an announcer talking. The person on the television reveals, “Harrison Bergeron… has just escaped from jail...He is a genius and an athlete, is under-handicapped, and should be regarded as extremely dangerous” (Vonnegut 302). Because of his capabilities, Harrison is dehumanized and stripped of what makes him unique.
