When one thinks of a concert today it is easy to name off thousands of them such as, Woodstock, Vans Warped Tour, Rock on the Range, plus many more. To most people a concert is just something to attend for entertainment. One spends money to go see their favorite band or bands. Some go just to say they went for the experience of a concert. Bands that put-on concerts and tour, bring in thousands of fans from around the world. These concerts bring in a lot on money, but the money goes to the bands and the venues to pay for expenses. That is not to say that all concerts are like this, there are some that have been created to raise money for some sort of cause. Days after the concert was over, new about the concert hit mainstream media hard. It was on the radio, in the paper, on television. Everyone around the globe was hearing about the concert and its efforts. One of the main focuses of the media on this concert was how peaceful it had been. A lot of concerts have violence due to drug and or alcohol use. When you combine that with political differences and possible arrogance, trouble is easily foreseen. To everyone’s surprise the Concert for Bangladesh was very peaceful. There had been on issue, a group of people who did not have tickets, charged the fences and broke them down. Ironically Harrison and Shankar did not allow any police to work their show. So, when the people tore down the fence and it was handled peacefully, this was shocking to the world. Farida Majid, a historian for Bangladesh had mentioned that the concert was so warm felt, that the issues in Bangladesh echoed around the world. Everyone knew about Bangladesh and the ones who knew already knew, now had a deeper understanding. Due to the awareness that the concert had brought to the world, it then led to people volunteering to help the effort. It had also led to multiple private donations around the world. Something else that had happened after the concert is, the creation of the live album of the concert. The album was created and sold multiple copies world-wide and a piece of the profit was donated to the effort. Another thing that had been made was a film about the concert and live video feed. Again, like the album, many of these were sold and a piece of the profit was donated to the effort. Despite people’s desire to bring back the feeling of the original Woodstock, all that can remain is its effect on the people who experienced it and the affect on the culture they lived in. The concert was necessary to have because it eased tension in a time of history that was full of war and prejudices. Its stories will be told, some good, some bad, but the desire that people feel to experience it firsthand will never be lost.

The formation of the Concert and Wind Ensemble bands dates back to the Middle Ages and Medieval Times. The Concert Band and Wind Ensemble have evolved over the years, due in part to significant historical events, music combinations, individuals, and progress.
All of the concerts I went to were good. The concerts allowed me to broaden my knowledge of music and learn more about how chamber music sounds. I moved along with the music I heard, and I thought about the works as I listened to them. I saw the musicians move as they played, and I know most musicians think about how they are going to play. Classical music may be losing the younger audiences, but it is still as great as it used to be when these pieces where played for royalty. Thought and movement are reactions to classical music which is why it’s an art form, and we should continue to support it because it is growing as composers write new pieces for the modern day instruments.

We play music loudly with our friends and families at social gatherings and ultimately it creates a friendly and open atmosphere. Now the last thing we would think about would be that at one of these social events one of us may die. In recent years there have been more and more deaths and injuries at musical festivals all throughout the United States. Although the number is much lower than deaths and injuries from automotive accidents they should not be over looked. Music festivals are becoming more and more popular and people are flocking to festivals all around the United States. These music festivals in today’s society have turned into drug infested parties in which people’s live are endangered and people themselves are exposed to drugs and unsafe festival conditions.
Throughout history music has had a profound effect on a person’s mind, body, and consciousness. A song or piece of music can trigger vivid memories, and induce emotions ranging from deep sorrow to unabashed joy. Music can drive listeners to patriotic fervor or religious frenzy, or it can soothe the savage beast we call human. There have been many advances in technology that have let us study how music affects the brain. Music causes all sorts of activity in the brain, especially during musical improvisation. Along with the peak of several movements music began to reach a point of climax. Rock specifically began to flourish in the 1960’s, while expressing the voice of the liberated generation. It is the power of such trends that overall lead to what is known as the greatest music festival of all time: Woodstock Music and Art Fair. The festival started on August 15, 1969 on Max Yasgur’s farm in Bethel, New York. Appealing to the time period, Woodstock was designed to be Three Days of Peace and Music. However, many argue that it was more than just a musical art fair of peace, but a historically significant event that shifted American culture. While some regard Woodstock as the beginning of a cultural advancement and the end of a naïve era, others view it as ridiculous hippy festival infested with illegal drug usage. Woodstock cost over $2.4 million and attracted over 450,000 people (Tiber, 1). Despite the debate of whether Woodstock produced a positive or negative effect, it is clear that a note worthy impact was made. When discussing the overall impact of Woodstock it is important to look at the influences and creative plan and the positive and negative effects produced from the festival.
