10.1 AIMS OF INSERVICE EDUCATION This concept was taken from module 10 “Inservice education”, sub-topic 2 “Nature and scope of inservice Education”. Inservice education is a planned learning experience provided by the employing agency to enhance their employee’s professional knowledge and skills, to follow new technology specifically related job; inservice training is an applied education. In-service education is a professional training which is given to professionals where they are being trained about their job and this training is meant to help developing the staffs of the organization. In-service training was organized in my hospital in January and in one of the training we were given a questionnaire on communication and what each body language signify. At the end we were made to understand that talking to an elder with hand in your pocket is a sign of disrespect and not been attentive to what is been said. After the training the behaviour of so many staff changed positively.
5. To Maintain High Standard for nursing: As professionals were need to be updated always so as to maintain a high standard in our profession. Through this training, record practices are communicated and corrections are also made on wrong practices so that we will be able to maintain high standard in our care.
6. Improves changes of promotion: As we know that in-service education is not only limited to the hospital which we work. One can attend different workshops and seminar, obtain masters and PhD degrees, and get updated in the profession and this will help to increase one’s chances for promotion.
7. To develop right concept for client care: some nurses are in the profession for the wrong reasons and are not really careful when it comes to care of their patients. No nurse wants to remain at the same level for a long time else the junior colleagues will one day become their seniors. I remembered where I was formally working, I was opportune to attend a seminar on HIV training after which a certificate was given. That certificate is a plus to me, as it helped me in getting better knowledge about HIV/Aids and have been added to list of my qualifications. In-service education consist of continuing education program and so many nurses are using this period to pursue their degree and masters program and this have helped in maintaining high standard in the nursing profession.

10.3 SOCIAL CONTEXT Every organization wants to make sure that there is growth and increase in productivity. To ensure this growth in-service education is necessary. The managers have to assess the area of the job that is difficult for employees and organize a training to enable them acquire knowledge and gain necessary skill that will help increase productivity in the company. Moreover due to advancement in technology this trainings are necessary to keep employees, updated and help improve professionalism in work place.
