A Gun Inside Your Backpack? How would you feel if you were in a class at university and you knew that out of all the people around you, there is at least one person with a concealed weapon? Would you feel comfortable knowing that someone has a gun under their clothes or inside their backpack? This is what university students now have to live with because it has been legalized to carry concealed weapons at public universities. The concept of concealed carry has always created great controversy, but it has now increased because it is now legal for people with gun permits to carry their guns on university campuses. There are a vast amount of horrific outcomes that may result from this law passing rather than positive effects which is why I believe concealed weapons should not be allowed on college campuses. People who disagree with me say that if students are able to bring guns to campus then it can give them a sense of security and protection (Wheeler 657). It is said that if the students have a weapon with them then they will feel like they have a higher possibility of defending themselves rather than being defenseless without any sort of weapon that can help them in any way. The problem would be that if a police officer walked into the classroom, and see that that there is more than one person with a gun, how will he or she know who the real offender is? It is highly probable that he or she will not know and will have difficulty identifying who the real offender is (Students for Gun Free Schools 639). This confusion could lead to a horrible outcome and could end up with innocent victims injured because the police officer could make the understandable mistake of shooting the incorrect
