I wish to be part of the future revolution and that is why I want to study Computer Science. My interest in computer science dates back to my school days. I was fascinated with the internet and how it works. Having zeal towards computers I was introduced to 'BASIC' language and on how computers can be used and programmed. After I entered the High School, I was made known how the use of languages like 'C' and 'HTML' benefits our daily life on my personal interest.
My academic curriculum in School was responsible for molding my interest in Computer Science. I got introduced to programming while I was studying in 8th grade, it made me very excited and I showed immense interest in this field. I have learnt C++ in 8th grade and Java (BlueJ) in 9th as well as in 10th grade. In 10th grade, I have secured 90% in Computer Application and have been among the toppers of our school in this subject. After the 10th grade I was motivated to take Computer Science as specialization in Senior High School (11th and 12th).
My immediate degree objective to carry out MS in Computer Science with major in Software Engineering to expand the horizon of my education that I gathered from undergraduate level and to utilize the experience gained from professional exposure. I wish to follow it up with a PhD degree to pursue my career in research and experience the excitement and satisfaction of being at the forefront of this field. My strong interest, for learning new ideas with my inner desire to reach a degree of excellence in every piece of work I perform, enabled me to acquire significant knowledge on various aspects of technology, as well as leading me through a successful educational career. Right from my early childhood, I developed the curiosity to learn new topics. Watching closely to my father's work in the field of electronics and computer played a crucial role as my mind molded towards this technical studies.
It only took me one class to decide that that is what I want to do for the rest of my life. In high school, I was also a part of the Computer Science UIL team. This meant we would travel to different schools and compete in coding contests. These contests were cool because I could see and talk to people who thought and communicated just like I did. We all loved math, science, and of course coding.
My high school calculus teacher, who was also my role model, made a difference in my life. It was her class that made me decide that I wanted to become a secondary mathematics teacher. I had a first hand experience at what it is like being a teacher during my senior year of high school by being my calculus teacher’s teacher assistant. While being her teacher assistant I experienced several things that a teacher does on a daily basis: making copies, grading papers, constructing lesson plans, and teaching/ tutoring students. I hope that when I become a teacher that I will be capable of inspiring a young person, just the same as my high school calculus teacher did for me.
We can surely say that today's world is heading into the future with the tremendous influence of computers. These machines are very important players in the game, the key to the success however is proper software (computer programs). It is the software that enables computers to perform a certain tasks. Educational systems in developed countries realize the importance of computers in the future world and therefore, emphasize their use in schools and secondary institutions. The proper choice of software is very important especially for beginners.
“It’s the Possibility of dream come true that makes life interesting” - Paulo Coelho This perfectly holds true for me in the world of Computer Engineering where novel ideas are not a novelty. It is this novelty that entices me to this field and gives me a deep sense of professional pride. In this context, I would like to pursue my graduation in Computer Engineering, which not only supplements the knowledge that I possess but also provides a strong platform for my future career goals. After one year's work experience as a Network Engineer at Its Not Yellow, a US Based online news portal, I want to return to academic study and undertake post graduate studies in Computer Science and Information Science at the Temple University. Post my under graduation with an Engineering degree in Information Technology from Nagpur University, I realize that I needed to gain practical working experience as a Network Engineer to gain first-hand knowledge of what the life of a Network/System Engineer entails.
I had learned BASICS, MS-DOS along with the subjects in my school curriculum. I chose Computers as my elective subject for my grade 10th (secondary school) to grasp the better understanding about Computers which led the foundation of Computer Engineering as my career. In my 12 years of schooling I was always ranked among top 2% of the class. My strong liking towards Mathematics and Science, helped me in doing fairly well during my 10th and 12th grades. After school, I appeared for State Entrance Exam for Engineering, in which I secured a position in top 2% out of two lakh aspirants.
With your support and under the guidance of esteemed professors at your university, I will successfully be able to achieve my dreams as well as explore and contribute to the new vistas of Computer Science. Thus, I eagerly look forward to becoming a part of your academic world.
Besides theoretical knowledge, I gained practical exposure in computer science through summer training and project works. I have made a project named “E- Notice board” an android application... ... middle of paper ... ...in Computer Systems. Within this field, I am interested in Operating Systems and Computer Networks. My practical training and my courses have given me plenty of exposures to these areas and I am determined that a committed study on Computer Systems further will enable me to combine all my previous knowledge and experiences in a particular field and encourage in achieving my career goal. I am positive that my academic records and practical knowledge combined with my eagerness to do research demonstrate the perseverance and zeal required to pursue Masters Degree in your reputed university.
