Budget Inn, Travelodge, and Super 8 are some of the hotels which use low-cost strategies by offering economical rates for rooms including a bed, bathroom and complimentary toiletries in order to satisfy customer’s basic needs. These hotels which offer discounted prices attract customers wanting to spend little money for simple products and services yet uphold a good number of consumers, giving them a reason to return and continue using their services.
In the recent months, this student stayed in two different hotels for a short period of time, the Baymont Inn & Suites in Doral, FL and Westgate Lakes Resorts & Spa in Orlando, FL and the differentiation between both hotels were drastic. Wal-Mart uses the differentiation strategy of “price-match”. If Wal-Mart and the competitor have the same product and the competitor advertises the product at a lower price, Wal-Mart will match their price to the competitor’s price giving customers the advantage of being able to shop for all of their needs rather than having to go to multiples stores to only purchase one or two items. JCPenney uses differentiation strategies including seasonal and holiday sales which include mark-down prices, back to school promotions, buy one get one free, or buy one get one half off promotions, coupons for in store and on-line purchases and customer reward programs tailoring to customers’ needs and wants, increasing sales and profit.. One of the decisions made was work related – changing from one position to another. This student works for the School District of Lee County and over the summer, the school this student is employed by was having a summer school program and was asked to work as the clerk-typist, also known as receptionist, for the front office as the usual clerk-typist was taking their summer break and the other retired from the school system. This position was to not have effect on the position this student currently had before summer school began which was an exceptional student education educational paraprofessional also known as a teacher assistant working with students with disabilities. This student figured it would be a great opportunity to learn new things and have a different experience from the classroom so this student accepted to work the summer program. During the course of the summer program, this student performed very well and learned quickly and efficiently catching the attention of the principal’s secretary. About three weeks prior to the summer program ending, the secretary to the principal asked if this student was interested in obtaining the clerk-typist position as there was an opening available. This student felt honored and realized this position can open many more doors and learning experiences so this student considered the
