I’m here today to discuss, compare, and contrast the Beatles and the Rolling Stones, two of the best rock and roll bands from the 1960s. During the British Invasion, both of these bands had a lasting impression worldwide inspiring many of the current artists today. Although both bands are similar, they have many differences.
America have a long history of black’s relationship with their fellow white citizens, there’s two authors that dedicated their whole life, fighting for equality for blacks in America. – Audre Lorde and Brent Staples. They both devoted their professional careers outlying their opinions, on how to reduce the hatred towards blacks and other colored. From their contributions they left a huge impression on many academic studies and Americans about the lack of awareness, on race issues that are towards African-American. There’s been countless, of critical evidence that these two prolific writers will always be synonymous to writing great academic papers, after reading and learning about their life experience, from their memoirs.
Who is better: The Beatles or The Rolling Stones? This is quite possibly the most debated question in the history of rock music. Unfortunately, many debaters don’t learn the facts about these two legendary bands before plunging into heated arguments about this topic. What is surprising about these two groups is that they are exceptionally alike. Though they are minuscule, there are distinctions that set The Beatles and The Rolling Stones apart.
The Beatles and the Beach Boys are two of the most recognized, well-known and most popular musical acts of the 1960’s right through to the 1970’s. I will be focusing on the group acts rather than solo performers such as John Lennon, Paul McCartney and George Harrison of the Beatles, who took their own stylistic approach to their music after the Beatles’ separation. Each group’s arrangement and use of instruments classify them as part of the overall associated sound and typical subject matter of songs in the 1960’s, yet remain different enough to distinguish between each group’s desired sound.

AC/DC originated in Australia, and was formed in 1973 by brothers Angus Young and Malcolm Young. They were born in Glasgow, Scotland, but then moved to Sydney Australia with most of their family in 1963. They classified themselves solely as rock n roll, but are considered to be one of the pioneers of heavy metal. They are also one of the highest grossing bands of all time. "AC/DC" is an abbreviation meaning "alternating current/direct current" electricity. They originally got the name from their older sister Margaret, who saw the initials ACDC on a sewing machine. The brothers felt that this name symbolized the band’s raw energy and their power driven performances.

Led Zeppelin were never afraid to try new musical directions, drawing inspiration from such styles as blues, rock, folk, country (and everything in between!) to create a unique sound that almost defies description, probably the most appropriate way to describe their vast repertoire is simply as "Led Zeppelin". During their reign they created one of the most enduring and diverse catalogues in modern music and firmly secured their status as one of the most influential groups ever (probably second only to The Beatles!).

In the 1960’s Jimi Hendrix, along with many other musical artists, greatly influenced numerous people. His unorthodox method of playing and how well he played the guitar would become his trademark for many years to come. Arguably the greatest instrumentalist in the history of rock music, Hendrix expanded the range and vocabulary of the electric guitar and pioneered explosive possibilities of the instrument. His innovative style of combining fuzz, feedback, and controlled distortion created a new musical form.
Pink Floyd and the Beatles had more in common then they’re often credited. Both bands members were raised in the United Kingdom. The original framework for “The Beatles” was conspired by the best friends, John Lennon and Paul McCartney. Likewise, “Pink Floyd” was created by best friends Nick Mason and Roger Waters. By the same token, both bands were founded while the members received their education. World War II was a pin point in each of the band members lives, if not directly affecting them, then they were affected through their parents. Ironically, the two bands were also branded for the sixties, largely the Beatles who were believed to be an instrument, attempted to be used for ending the Vietnam War. As musicians often feel pressured to change in New Eras, or rise to the occasion, the Beatles and Pink Floyd were no exception. The Beatles changed their music from a pop, heartthrob sound to a more psychedelic sound to express the Counterculture. Accordingly, Pink Floyd altered their sound from a Blues like sound, to a Mystique, psychedelic tune. With the music, comes the managing, The Beatles were rejected by Decca, a recording company, similarly, as Pink Floyd was cut loose from their recording producer, Jenner, before the bands settled with different companies. Of course, the bands succeeded beyond the rejection, at some point the groups both enthused their movies: Yellow Submarine and The Wall. That being said, both bands have a reputation to have experimented with the Hippie drug of the sixties; lysergic acid diethylamide, otherwise known as LSD. The term teenager came to light at the early 1950’s due to the large population of individuals in that group. This group of individuals had a lot of freedom to purchase clothes, food and any type of music they preferred due to the increase in money for spending. It is during this period that the young individuals flocked up to listen to the most preferred music during those days; rock music. The Beatles are an English rock band who originated in Liverpool, England in 1960. They were a huge success locally even before they began to make records in the United Kingdom. The band was comprised of four members: John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr. They owe much of their early, quick success to manager Brian Epstein who molded them into a professional act, and producer George Martin who enhanced their musical potential. Early in the 1960’s, their widespread fame in the United Kingdom was first referred to as “Beatlemania”. Eventually, they acquired the nickname “the Fab Four” as Beatlemania grew rapidly in Britain. By 1964, the Fab Four made their way overseas and officially became international pop stars. The Beatles were the leading factor in the “British Invasion” of the United States pop market.
orn in 1941 only 3 weeks apart from each other, Paul Simon and Arthur Garfunkel became good friends in Forest Hill elementary school in Queens, New York. What was unknown to them at the time was that this friendship would eventually lead to them becoming major contributors to Folk Rock and music holistically. Their friendship extended past elementary school as they lived 3 blocks away from each other and attended the same high school, Parsons Junior High School, where they discovered their mutual interest in music and began working on songs and practicing harmonies.
