Have you ever wanted to learn about two regions at the same time? Well, if you have, keep reading for exciting details like how one region is made out of 12 states while another is made of eleven. Amazing, I know! So buckle up, get some snacks, and allow the regions to land in your mind! There are many different varieties of landforms in the world, but there are only two regions we are looking at and they are the northeast and the southeast. In both regions there are huge mountain ranges. One is called the Appalachian Mountains. This group of mountains is 250,000,000 years old. The Mississippi River flows through the southeast. In the southeast there is a landform named Mammoth Cave. In 1941 it became a landform. I think it is cool that a simple little ,(well actually huge), cave became a national park! It covers 52,830 acres. (There might be more, all these acres might lead to more) No wonder it is the largest cave system known in the world! Its coordinates are 37°11 North, 86°6 West. This happed in 2005. I will quickly summarize the event. There was a terrible storm. Families separated. People hurt. In the end friends, families, even complete strangers came together and helped one another. They rebuilt lots of the state. It was a time of mixed emotions for people. Very recently there has been horrible flooding in South Carolina. Since they are on the coast the rain probably flooded the ocean and caused flooding. I do not know this is certain, this is only my guess. The average southeast climate is that it has mild, (or warm), winters, hot summers, also it is often wet.
