There is an ever-increasing amount of computer users today. However, even the age-old desktop is being, superseded with smartphones. These smartphones have the ability to gather user information: such as location and are selling it to marketers. Yet with the increasing information and technology available to us, the notion that we are losing our individualism increases. The increasing information is beginning to leave our subconscious susceptible to being controlled by the powerful.
Some large retail outlets are starting to gather people’s personal information, by tricking their customers to sign up for cards that offer customers small incentives for swiping them every time they purchase items at their checkout. In America, this is starting to take its toll such as when a girl began receiving pregnant related pamphlets sent in the mail by Walmart. Although the father complained: it turned out the girl was actually pregnant and that Walmart was able to tell by the items that she brought that she was pregnant before her own father. This shows how we are being reduced to statistics and figures rather than our personal traits.
Individuality is an individual’s attitude that distinguishes the individual from everyone else. However, our reliance on the mass-

However, the matrix trilogy never provided the reason why the ‘Artificial intelligence’, turned into a monster spawning an army, nor does it answer what was the ‘Artificial intelligence’ purpose. Was the ‘Artificial intelligence’, created to steal our individuality in the first place? It sedated and put humans in the Matrix but what if it was all planned by the government at that time but went horribly wrong. The pedestrian also shows the government sedating humans by keeping them in their houses watching television that is changing their thoughts. Nevertheless, as we are becoming glued to our phones and computers, we have to ask ourselves. Is this our future?
