I analyzed two crime dramas and two news stories, then compiled the data. Our objective was to watch these dramas and stories and get information from them. The information that we were supposed to get out of it was the demographics of offenders and victims, type of offense, graphic depiction of offense, victim and offender, and portrayal of victim and offender. The two crime dramas I watched were from Law and Order. I selected Season 11 episode 7 and 8. They were selected at random and only because they were the two that were on when I went to the channel. The two news stories I chose were older news stories, but popped back up on the recent news because of new found information.

The first scene is a man lying dead next to his vehicle in a parking garage. That man was 37 year old Caucasian male named Russel Crider. Russel was a youth hockey coach who lived in a middle class neighborhood. Russel had been beaten over the head with a hockey stick. While interviewing players and coaches, they came up with the name of a player Keith Taylor. Keith was a 17 year old Caucasian male. Investigators had found out that Keith was upset with his playing time and that he had college coaches who had come to watch him play. While police were interviewing Keith his father showed up. His father was identified as Raymond Taylor a Caucasian male who worked as a Laborer. The Taylor family lived in a middle class neighborhood. During the investigation, they got a search warrant for the Taylor household and found a bloodied hockey stick. Upon the finding of the stick, Raymond Taylor confessed to the murder of Russel Crider. The victim was cast in a positive light, he was coaching a hockey team with no kids on the team and offender was cast in a positive and negative light because he was a caring father, but then stepped over the boundary when he murdered his son’s hockey …show more content…

April was 47 years old and she lived at that home with her husband Dr. James Kauffman a 62 year old Caucasian male. They lived in an upper class neighborhood, but we’re going through a rough patch according to family. The case had remained unsolved for a few years. It came to light that April wanted a divorce and was supposedly going to spend as much money as possible until James granted her the divorce. James was also part of a drug ring and April was going to expose it to the police. James Kauffman then began looking for a hit man to murder his wife. Francis Mulholland was hired by James to murder his wife. Francis carried out the murder of April and shot her twice. Francis was a middle aged white male who got paid a decent amount of money to murder April. In the years after the murder Francis died of a drug overdose. On Jan 10, 2018 James Kauffman was finally charged with the murder of his wife April Kauffman. On Jan 26, 2018 James was found dead in his cell in what appeared to be a suicide. The victim was cast in a positive light, she was a loving and caring person who was a grandmother. The offender was at first cast in a positive light, but then all the information about him came to light and was cast in a negative
