The Walt Disney owned company, Pixar is recognized for its many computer animated films, such as, Toy Story, Monsters Inc. and Finding Nemo, but Pixar did not originally get its start with feature films. It got its start from short films instead. Pixar released “The Adventures of André and Wally B.,” its first short film, in 1984. “The Adventures of André and Wally B.” set the theme for all the films the Pixar team would create. This theme of entertaining and emotionally engaging animated characters is brilliantly carried out in the first feature film Pixar released in 1995, Toy Story. Twenty-six years after the release of Pixar’s first short, Teddy Newton’s “Day and Night,” Pixar’s thirteenth short, was released. The short begins with a pan of this open field where you see a rooster sitting on a tan fence looking like he’s crowing. The field is full of bright yellows and greens and cows can be seen grazing in this open field. The short pans to show that the farm scene was printed on Day. When the audience begins to meet Day, he yawns and begins to stretch. During the stretch, a thunder cloud appears on him showing the cracking of bones and the feeling of stretching. Once Day stands up he starts by slowly walking and then picks up his pace. Once Day stops we see him start to take a deep breath and on his body we see wind start to move through some bright green trees. These bright trees, colorful landscapes and expressions shown through the animated creature Day help show what a blissful life he seems to
