Another similar story, Pyramus and Thisbe by Ovid tells a similar story if a young couple in love kept apart hy their families who made a tragic end when they tries to run away together. Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet and West Side Story both have a lot in common as well as major differences that set them apart. Although West Side Story is a direct rendition of Shakespeare's original play, many of the themes and symbols are altered to fit the modern perspective. The characters have a direct correlation to each other, yet racial issues give them a new light. Many of the events also reflect each other, yet small differences give them uniqueness. West Side Story differs from Romeo and Juliet in characterizations, plot sequences, and themes.
Who would be willing to die for their loved ones? Romeo and Juliet would and did. Romeo and Juliet’s love and death brought two families together who could not even remember the origin of their hate. When the parents saw what their children's love for each other, they realized that their fighting had only led to suffering and insoluble conflict. Romeo and Juliet loved each other to an extent that they killed themselves rather than live apart. They did it with no hiatus. Juliet says before she kills herself, “O happy dagger, This is thy sheath. There rust and let me die.”( 5, 3, 182-183) demonstrating how she would rather die than not be with him.
The teen years is an emotional time for teenagers. One of the many responsibilities as one grows is for a teen and parent to understand one another. Relationships are hard for many teens, but being in a relationship is even harder when their parents do not support them. Two perfect themes that are shown tremendously throughout Shakespeare’s time and our modern times are; “Love” and “Fate”. These are constantly running through people’s minds all day as they try to unravel them. No matter the time period there will always be similarities especially between the teenager years.
“Romeo and Juliet”, a play composed by William Shakespeare, is about a boy and a girl who are fall in love with each other at first sight, but soon find out that they have fallen in love with the child of their parents enemy. Seeing fate is not on their side due to the ongoing feud between their parents, they are willing to do anything to be together, which unfortunately leads to both of their demise. Many people question if the love between Romeo and Juliet was true. The love between the two was not true because they fell in love with each other’s appearances, they didn’t know each other long enough to actually figure out each other, and they were hardly thinking straight during the relationship.

Children are lying to their parents, they are sneaking out at night to be with a boy that is “the one”, children are going back to the age of Shakespeare. Romeo and Juliet meet at a party one night and immediately fall in love. They soon find out they are from families that greatly despise one another and know that they should not be together but they are already too far fallen for one another. Romeo and Juliet's parents were bad influences on their kids because of their refusal to end a long lasting feud, teaching hate towards the opposing family and pushing their kids to do things against their will.
In William Shakespeare's play, Romeo and Juliet had many issues leading towards Romeo and Juliet to commit suicide towards the end of the play. When blaming someone it means responsibility for something that is wrong or deserving censure. Accordingly, Friar Lawrence is openly accountable for Romeo and Juliet’s death. With this intention, he does not make one, but three faults that direct to their death. In particular, he marries Romeo and Juliet, he depended upon Friar John with a letter of essential information to be delivered to Romeo, and he took off when Juliet was in jeopardy at the tomb. On balance, without these critical misshapes, Romeo and Juliet would still be alive.
The expectations that society has for its youth has a large impact on their behaviour. Often in novels, the authors will use the faults of society as the largest impact on its youth. William Shakespeare’s play, “Romeo and Juliet”, is a great way of displaying the ways that young people are affected by the society they live in. Romeo and Juliet, the main characters in the play, are forced to hide the truth from society or they would be shamed upon. Romeo and Juliet must defy society’s unwillingness to solve the conflict between the Montague and Capulet families, in order to follow their desires to be together.
Teenagers tend to want more liberty and want to move out of their parent’s house, when they eventually do that they end up hating it because it did not met their expectations. When people are young and immature they make decisions, due to a certain lust or desire, which they latter on regret. Urging too much for something sometimes causes for you to take your distractions off the consequences, because you do not see them. These ignorant people will become understanding as they mature, and realize that some things in life our not quite as easy as they seem. “The Chaser,” by John Collier shows how some people who are urging for things such as love, are so single minded that they ignore all other consequences and concerns. The bad affects that might occur are neglected and left for the future to make them dwell on the awful decisions.
In America, the society runs on what teenagers want. From Nicki Minaj to the junior section at Sears, most of what the people see, hear, or touch is aimed at the teenagers. Being an adolescent is probably the most exciting and most popular time period in a person’s life. The teens seem to have it all, but what about the parents who raise them? The parents of the teenagers never get any credit during this time period, although they have every right to. Parents and teenagers should strive for a strong, lasting relationship for these years, though most times there isn’t one. The relationship between teenagers and parents is the most vital bond in the family because this relationship should and will prepare them for the next step in life.
