The name of this book is “Jake, reinvented”. Gordon Korman tells us the story that is much alike “The Great Gatsby”. But this story happened during our time. Although this book is not about love, but it is about selfishness and betray. The “Gatsby” in “Jake, reinvented” is Jake Garret. Nobody knew who is he and where he came from. Although he is the beast new long-snapper the Fitz football team has ever had. But everybody knows him because of his legendary parties. Every single Friday Jake hosts the parties. Every single Fitz High School student wants to be invited. Author tells us this story from Rick Paradise face. In one of his parties Jake met Rick himself and then Rick introduced to Jake his friend, Todd Buckley. Buckley is a Fitz football team’s quarterback, a super star. Everybody respect him or they just afraid of him… In my opinion it is both, at the same time. Todd has a perfect authority among High school students and his teammates. We can figure it from couple quotations from book, like “To take sides with Jake against Todd Buckley would be a hanging offense at Fitz. Page 143. This quotation shows us that nobody would go against Todd, because if you would, that means you are alone against all Fitz students. Or in dialogue between Todd and Rick, Rick says:” Everybody here thinks that you are something more than just a third-rate quarterback a third-rate school. And you are not! If I feed you to Nelson, the sun will still rise tomorrow. Nobody talked to Todd like this. “-Not for you.” And he stormed out of the locker room.” Page 143. That quotation shows us a good example of Todd’s personality. He used to make people do what he wants, and if they do not … well, badly for them. So, after Todd and Jake met each oth... ... middle of paper ... ...hat it was not Jake! But he could not because Jake himself did not want that happened. His only option to help Jake is find a bunch Jake’s friend and show to Judge that Garret is a good boy and make him give to Jake Garret a second chance. And what do you thank happened? Maybe this quote will help you to guess: “I should have known before. Nobody was coming to stand behind Jake. Not one solitary soul”. Without parties, free beer and pizza nobody needed Jake. Those hundreds and hundreds teenagers who went to his parties, call themselves Garret’s friends just disappeared. Even Didi, did not showed up. This story tells us how selfish and villainy people could be. After all, Jake Garret moved to Texas for living with his mother. Great Gatsby was assassinated. What is common in the end of those stories? A good guy is gone. Works Cited Jake Reinvented
