Over time there has been alot of president's that has been in and out of the white house. Some of the president's have done a great job in office some president's didn't do so good in the white house. People in general have all sorts of different opinions on president's some people may say one president was the best while another person may disagree. In my opinion out of all the president's there is a man named Abraham Lincoln who i think was one of the greatest president's of all time. One of are president's in the present who i think does not do a very good job in office is president Barack Obama. There are a lot of reason's why i put these two in the catogories i did and in my essay i am going to explain this reasoning behind my opinion.
Abraham lincoln is in my opinion one the best president's to ever step foot in office. Abraham Lincoln was born Febuary 12th 1809 born in to a poor family he was self educated. Abraham Lincoln started is great journey by becoming a country lawyer , a whig party leader , Illinois state legislator, and one term in the United States House of Representitives during in the 1830's. With no support from the south Abraham Lincoln swept the north and was elected president in 1860. Abraham Lincoln had several goals , but what makes him such a good president is he accomplished his goal's , he wanted to get rid of slavery and he fought to succeed in that. Abraham Lincoln used what was called Emancipation Proclamation in 1863 to use the army to help protect escaped slaves. Abraham Lincoln wanted to encourage the border states to outlaw slavery. ...omeone who is going to be a leader , someone who is like Abraham Lincoln and is honest and is a strong chararcter. So many things have changed from when abraham Lincoln was president to now. Being president is no easy job there are going to be up's and down's , being a leader of the United States takes a lot of effort and support for everyone in office. When American's vote for a president they pick between two canidates , they want someone who can be trusted and be a leader but sometime's the people running they say they will do this and that but when they get elected it's a whole different ball game. I wish we could have another president who has the characteristics like Abraham Lincoln and can put stuff back to normal and someone who can be trusted and keep there promises. My opinion will always be Abraham Lincoln was the greatest president to ever step in office.
Abraham Lincoln was one of the greatest presidents to ever serve in office in the history of the U.S., serving from 1860 to 1865. A self-educated attorney from Illinois, he proved himself to be a brilliant leader throughout the Civil War period. Although President Abraham Lincoln faced the biggest crisis in American history, he saved the nation by preserving the Union during the Civil War, boosting the economy, by fighting for the abolition of slavery, and by boosting the Northern economy.
Without a doubt, Abraham Lincoln is one of the most celebrated people in American history. Between time span of the years 1800-1900, Abraham Lincoln is a man that stands out from the rest because of his accomplishments during life and presidency. Lincoln most definitely helped shape the United States into what it is today, with lasting benefits of equality for all, regardless of skin color. During presidency, Lincoln carried on doing what he wanted to get done despite the lack of support from many and endless death threats. When there was conflict among advisors and himself, his leadership style often involved telling a story that displayed his point. Most of the time this method worked, and many people admired and respected him for it. He
Abraham Lincoln, the 16th president of the United States, was the president during the most difficult time in American History. While being the president during the Civil War Era, Lincoln had to face and conquer a large amount of difficult missions that helped to save our country. He resembled a dedicated, brave character that had a unique form of leadership that consisted of telling stories to explain his actions and to influence society to follow his lead. Lincoln’s goals as the leader of the country were to abolish slaves and to unify the nation. Abraham Lincoln did not let anything get in his way to improve the United States which makes him the most dedicated, influential American of the period up to 1877.
Lincoln an outspoken challenger against expansion of slavery, defied and articulated in his campaign issues that supported and encouraged slavery and this made him rise up the political ladder to become one of most powerful president that the American has ever had. According to Angle, et al, 1992, Lincoln has consistently been voted by scholars as the greatest Presidents of the time and history.
Abraham Lincoln is arguably one of the greatest presidents in the history of the United States. He only served 5 years, but was president in the worst period of American history. He did the unthinkable to many people because of the severity of the decision; he emancipated slaves in the United States. This caused him to be dubbed ‘The Great Emancipator’. The nickname he received is an accurate one because it is a major decision that shaped the future of America. This decision was long overdue and he made sure that the prosperity would not have to deal with the issue of slavery separating the government. Additionally, he was able to change the landscape of the war because the North had affected the South’s way of life. He was very bold for declaring that all slaves will be free, but it was for the improvement of America.
Without a doubt, there have been great presidents throughout American history. The subject of the matter is debatable about who has done the best job for the position. When you ask Americans who the greatest president ever to serve is, five names would be repetitive: Andrew Jackson, George Washington, Theodore Roosevelt, Franklin D. Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln. Lincoln is more than likely always at the top of the list. He is commonly known as the best president of the United States and I can't help but agree. President Lincoln has had numerous achievements, such as ending slavery, modernizing the economy, and preserving the Union.
Because of their positions in the government and their resulting influential abilities, presidents are either praised for advancing the nation, criticized for not doing anything to help the country, or even making the country’s situation worse. Their success as president is dependent on the success of the country. People don’t take into consideration the attempts presidents make, but only those things that help or hurt the country. This leaves room for there to be a good president who may not accomplish much and a bad president who may accomplish a lot.
It is easy to see that Abraham Lincoln truly exemplifies the ideal president in the America. Not only did he abolish the institution of slavery, lead the Union to a victorious outcome in the war, and instill unity throughout the country, he changed thousands of people’s lives and gave America the democratic characteristics that are still displayed today.
Abraham Lincoln is regarded by many Americans as the greatest president to ever hold office in the history of the United States, and his reputation is definitely well deserved. Lincoln wasn't scared to stand up and fight for what he knew was right. He was convinced that within the branches of government, the presidency alone was empowered not only to uphold the Constitution, but also to protect, and defend it. Lincoln was able to lead our country and preserve the Union, keeping the United States from splintering during the devastating times of the Civil War. As President, he built the Republican Party into a strong national organization, and he rallied most of the northern Democrats to the Union cause. On January 1, 1863, he issued the Emancipation Proclamation that changed the war into a battle for freedom and declared forever free those slaves within the Confederacy. That November, Lincoln gave his famous Gettysburg Address, which stated how a country must be dedicated to human freedom in order to survive. He dedicated the battlefield to the soldiers who had perished, and called on the living to finish the task the dead soldiers had begun. (Donald, 1995) Lincoln believed that democracy could be a lasting form of government. He showed a nobility of character that had worldwide appeal, and he was a man of great integrity. However, Lincoln was not only the 16th president of the United States, he was an American hero. Lincoln was a well-rounded individual and he had numerous outstanding qualities. However, it is important to remember that Lincoln also led a private life, complete with close friends and family.
Abraham Lincoln may not have completely reconstructed the United States of America but he certainly did set the project in motion. The people he left behind were willing to work together to create the nation that would end up being where many live today. With the abolition of slavery, the strong leadership and the honesty of it all Lincoln is undoubtedly one of the greatest presidents in history.
Of all the presidents, Abraham Lincoln and Franklin Roosevelt are argued to be the best presidents in our nation’s history. Abraham Lincoln towers above all. During his presidency was the time when the republic has started to collapse but he emerges reborn as the United States we know today. “Abraham Lincoln was an unusually competent politician and a strong wartime commander in chief. He is an unparalleled national treasure, a legend that best represents the democratic ideal.” (Abraham Lincoln, George McGovern). While Franklin Roosevelt was a statesman who was elected to four terms in office and his accomplishments in leading the nation through depression and world war are appreciated to this day. “(Roosevelt) was more tested in peace and war than any other president other than Lincoln. Although often seen as a patrician among professional politicians, he was perhaps the most skilled politician of the lot.” ( Franklin Delano Roosevelt Roy Jenkins). Abraham Lincoln and Franklin Roosevelt’s similarities are greater than any two presidents. Both presidents changed American Society, had similar ideas on war and both gave famous speeches that changed the world.
Although Abraham Lincoln was President over a century ago he is still considered to be one of our greatest Presidents, and his legacy remains important today."
Abraham Lincoln was probably the most effective U.S. President. Everyone has an opinion of each president’s effectiveness; but, Lincoln’s achievements while in office show his effectiveness. He was able to make a tough decision in a time of crisis, and work to preserve the Union while taking into account every side’s perspective on the issue of slavery. He demonstrated his ability to make decisions for the betterment the nation, and even when under pressure made the decisions that needed to be done. Abraham Lincoln was an effective
There is no doubt that Abraham Lincoln is widely regarded as one of the great American presidents. The general public, when asked about Lincoln, will often tell the tale of a great man. Holding their head high, they will embark on the journey of a benevolent leader, praising the man who envisioned a new America: a great country of racial equality, and the pillar of human liberty. There are some, however, who have quite the opposite view.
Over the course of the past years, there have been many presidents and debates whether or not they have been beneficial to the United States of America. Even though there have been other great presidents, people should know that Abraham Lincoln, the 16th president was unquestionably an astonishing president. He was a great president because of how he: lead the union to victory, helped slaves to freedom, and issued the Emancipation Proclamation.
