Traveling back in today’s history, the comparison of Adolf Hitler and Joseph Stalin showed how these men opposed sides, but were extremely similar in how they succeeded. Their success came mostly through their politics and new ideas. Although Hitler and Stalin resented each other, they were comparable in numerous ways. Hitler and Stalin each rose to power in their respective countries and involved three principal reasons. These principal reasons displayed how both men were skilled users of propaganda, each were corrupt, and they both had the ambition to construct their countries into a powerful nation around the world. The form of propaganda that Hitler successfully used was his words. Hitler gave various speeches as dictator, however, his famous speech was his final speech at his trial for treason. In this speech, he gave his perspective prior to the trial. The central purpose of this speech was that Hitler wanted to become the destroyer of Marxism. After being released from jail for his crime, he was able to gain Nazi party control from other supporters, proves that he was an efficient user of propaganda. This proves that Hitler was an established user of propaganda, but Joseph Stalin’s purpose of propaganda was not blatantly obvious. Stalin did however use propaganda in his speech to the Fifteenth Congress in 1927 when he told the people what they wanted to hear and he used this speech to further his cause. This speech allowed him to further gain the support of the people and to justify why Trotsky was not the choice for leader.
