The meaning and purpose of our art is to tell the audience about Global Warming and how quickly this has become an international crisis. Using a movie to convey our message was initially Janes idea. Jane said it was the best way to express the emotions and pain that will be caused once Global Warming becomes too extreme to handle. We wanted to indicate how dangerous our actions can be; also, to explain what our audience could do to stop this. Inspiration for the movie came from the lack of interest people show when Global Warming is brought up in our society.
The popularization and dramatization of the scientific issue has successfully promoted awareness, although not necessarily understanding, of global warming-related matters. At the release of the film, many scientists expressed hopes that the increased attention on the topic would result in progressive global warming discussions. In fact,... ... middle of paper ... ...n of the physics law (Maters). Many of these events would, realistically, never occur so rapidly or have such extreme consequences, in contrast to what was dramatically depicted in The Day After Tomorrow. Conclusion Despite the Day After Tomorrow’s convincing use of special effects and cinematic technology, the film little scientific credibility related to extreme weather-related events and global warming.
Director David Guggenheim's, 'An Inconvenient Truth' is a documentary about former American politician Al Gore informing citizens on the causes and effects of Global Warming. He explains that the natural cycle of the Earths climate has been disturbed by noxious gas building up around the atmosphere and will continue to raise if we don't act soon. Gore's way of explaining Global Warming is both enlightening and surreal, as he refers to statistics, sentiment of nature, and the question of our perception and freedom to get his point across to his audience. By using such techniques to show his extensive knowledge on the subject, he can really appeal to the community. Gore states his first point by presenting visuals such as videos and graphs to show the progressive rate of temperature and Carbon Dioxide levels of the Earth's atmosphere.
Media propaganda is abound with the announcements of a “Mini Ice Age” in our mist. We are constantly inundated with Hollywood movies depicting global destruction with an onslaught of rapid global climate changes. Is all this news media accurate and depicting true and accurate events covering our planet and solar activity? As a reader begins to look deep into the rhetoric, they will notice that there is very little – if any – scientific data to support the coming of a “Mini Ice Age” (Mann) as indicated by the multiple media corporations. As many scientists have pointed out, we are experiencing global climate change – they just have not confirmed that is a “Mini Ice Age.” Hollywood has sensationalized the end of the world with movies such as “The Day After Tomorrow” (Emmerich) in which the earth undergoes cataclysmic environmental changes within days.
Biological Warfare I believe that biological warfare should not be option in war because it is expensive, it could cause a major death toll, and could cause major contamination to anything that is left over after biological weapons are used. Others believe that biological warfare should be an option because it is quick and kills off a lot of area all at once and may be more potent than the most lethal chemical warfare agents. At a time in history when such unique situations are effecting our government, our nation, our foreign policy, and our world, it is important that we, as a nation do all that we can to aide in the dramatic diplomatic decisions that pertain to the welfare of this great nation. Throughout history, America has prevailed in numerous battles, hardships, depressions, and complicated policies that have in all conclusions made her powerful, yet vulnerable at the same time. With the growing effect that the potentiality of war on one or even two fronts has on the citizens of our country, it is detrimental that we continue to keep everyone involved in this shaping situation.
Aldous Huxley warned the world of the disastrous consequences of science and technology through his novel Brave New World. He predicted that if we do not monitor and limit the extent of scientific advancements, it would come to the point where it would consume our lives. Through this, he believes we would loose our dignity, our self worth, our values and morals and the power to say no to science and technology. "While Huxley set his novel six centuries in the future, his vision is coming into sharp focus much sooner than that" (O'Neil). The shocking descriptions of the Brave New World bare too many similarit... ... middle of paper ... ...t whose influence corrupts and destroys our world.
Global Warming Global Warming is perhaps one of the most controversial topics currently known to man at this day in age. Human’s are constantly on alert for any potential “world-ending” catastrophes but the only seemingly possible one with reliable evidence is; Global Warming. Without evidence or proof, humans tend to believe any idea in general is non-existent/impossible, but with a meager amount of scientific proof, the world can indeed be alerted of the absolute truth behind global warming and the potential it has concerning our home, planet Earth. The main idea behind global warming is that the world may one day become so overly-polluted and corrupted by human contamination that nature will overthrow and demolish the human race on earth in order to restore balance and equilibrium to itself and all living species alike. However, with every great idea comes along with it major downsides and conflicts interfering with the basis upon which the idea rests.

The issue may be serious but O’Brien states that is just the media using another topic of interest and throwing it out of proportion. He claims that there is global warming, but the statistics being given are always changing, so the blame game can’t always point a finger at humans. Zarambo explained that humans are the cause of global warming but cannot but no matter what we were to do, even revert to the Stone Age, that global warming will still rise because the waste we have build up can dissolve slowly. On the opposite side, McKibben in “Think Again: Climate Change” he explains that humans are to blaim because the planet is already struggling to keep itself alive and all the excess heat we generate from CO2 and other waste, we are dooming ourselves to an early grave. In “How Close to catastrophe” where he explains his own thoughts he explains that its not just humans to blame but the citizens of the US.
