Compare And Contrast Brutus And Julius Caesar

“‘Et tu, Brute?”” (Shakespeare 3. 1. 77.). These are the famous last words of the beloved Julius Caesar after he was stabbed by his closest friend, Marcus Junius Brutus, and his fellow conspirators. Even though this event took place thousands of years ago, there are still many occasions like this that still happen in today’s society. To extend, one of the more famous ones of the modern era was the feud between East Coast rapper, Notorious B.I.G ,and West Coast rapper, Tupac Shakur. Finally, there are many similarities and differences between Julius and Brutus, and Tupac and Notorious B.I.G. that are seen throughout their relationships.

To begin, Brutus was born in 85 BC in Macedonia (Biography.com Editors). He was the son of Servilia, who happened to be one of Caesar’s lover (Biography.com Editors). Brutus explained, “My ancestors did from the streets of Rome, the Tarquin drive when he was called a king” (Shakespeare 2. 1. 53-54.). In this statement, Brutus explains that his ancestors were involved in driving out the last Roman kings years before (Shakespeare 1. 2. 159-161.). As time goes on, Brutus begins to believe that Caesar will end up becoming too powerful (Shakespeare 2. 1. 10-34.). Since Brutus is believing Caesar will be too powerful, he decides to join a group of conspirators, and he thinks they are going to kill Julius for the good of Rome, so he decides to join them (Shakespeare 2. 1. 129-140.). When the conspirators propose they also kill Antony, Brutus explains, “ for Antony is but a limb of Caesar” (Shakespeare 2. 1. 166). That statement means, when Caesar is killed, Antony will not know what to do without him. Brutus also said, “ Not that I loved Caesar less, but that I loved Rome more” (Shakespeare 3. 2. 23.). That statement means, Brutus believed that he was killing Caesar out of the good of Rome, and not for anything other than that. Shakur’s childhood was not an easy one, he moved around in the New York boroughs in Brooklyn and the Bronx (Biography.com Editors). “In his youth, he explored acting by becoming a member of the 127th Street Ensemble, a Harlem-based theater company” (Biography.com Editors). To continue, Tupac’s mother taught him radical politics (Biography.com Editors). However, he saw some of life’s difficulties through his mother’s struggle with substance abuse (Biography.com Editors). In his teenage years, Tupac attended the Baltimore School for the Arts, where he attended acting and dance classes, which also included ballet (Biography.com Editors). Furthermore, while Tupac was a resident in Baltimore, he discovered rap and began performing as MC New York (Biography.com Editors). 2Pac emerged as a solo artist in 1991, when he released his album 2Pacalypse Now (Biography.com Editors). Also around this time, Shakur’s acting career took off with the 1992 urban crime drama, Juice, with Omar Epps, Samuel L.
