Leadership is a trait that very few people have in the workplace. Some people are born with leadership skills, others grow into leaders. With age, leadership can vary with the different styles that are portrayed. An example could be a manager who is in their mid-fifties. Leader’s in that age group can very demanding and strict. According to Gilbert, Collins and Brenner, the study showed that “older leaders tend to delegate more effectively than younger employees, while younger leaders seemed to be more attentive.” They are more developed in their skill and expect their routine to be the same on a day to day basis. .... I would meet with each individual family and come up with an agreement. Each family should have been compensated at some amount for their loss. The check that was given to Diana in the amount of 5055.72 was too low. Dan also disrespected her by making it seem that the check would replace her husband. There is nothing in this world that can replace a life but a code of ethics, morals and values always take charge.

What is a leader? A leader is someone who takes command and leads an organization or group to success. Anyone can be a leader but in order to become a great leader you have to have to possess certain characteristics. I will be using Odysseus from the Odyssey isas an example of a leader who has suitable characteristics. You also have to know what harmful characteristics a leader may possess to determine if they are good leaders or not.

In my own experience leadership is not just about one person telling others what to do; it’s about more than just giving orders. It is about getting a group of people to work together towards a common goal with more than just the goal in mind. It is also not just about setting goals for the group but also setting personal goals for the individual, guiding and supporting them all
Warren G. Bennis and Robert J. Thomas’ book Geek and Geezers (2002), provide a unique look at cross-generation of leadership, the ability to succeed, and how a leader defines their success through the crucible. They originally started the study on young and old leaders to show the influences of era on leadership, but it became obvious that there was more. They interviewed a total of 43 leaders of which one group was over 70 years of age and they were called the “geezers”. The second group was called the “geeks” which consisted of leaders under the age of 35. From their study, Bennis and Thomas believe that they have identified the “process an individual makes meaning out of often difficult events which is called the crucible (W. Bennis; R. Thomas, pg. 4).” Bennis and Thomas were able to create a model that reflected the development of leadership within the crucible. They were able to show through their leadership crucible model that all leaders no matter their age through their experience/and or organization of meaning have the competencies of a leader through adaptive captivity, engaging other by shared meaning, having a
What is a leader? Who are chosen to be leader, and why are they chosen? What set these certain individuals aside from everyone else? A leader is someone who can encourage even those with feeble hearts, insecure souls and self-doubting minds. A leader takes not only their vision but everyone’s vision and create one beautiful creation that is seen throughout the world. My experiences with leadership range from the worst to the best. Once holding a great leadership position myself, I can testify the benefits of great leadership and the disadvantages of horrible leadership. Through my experience with great leadership and the effects on the people, it seemed to the naked eye that everyone was thinking the same thing at the same time. In actually it was the leader uniting the members together on one common chord to produce a sound that would remain in the souls. A leader is someone who not only leads, but also encourages people to do their best, share a collectively common idea or passion with a group, and challenge the process of a traditional style.
Leadership is the ability of an individual to influence, motivate and inspire others (Gill, 2006). It is therefore defined as a process whereby a leader influences a group of individuals to achieve a common goal (Northouse, 2013). A leader has to make a decision for something to happen and provide his followers with clear direction (Rost et al, 1991). It will evoke feelings of challenge, excitement and involvement for the followers to proceed with the task (Gill, 2006).
Leadership is the ability that someone has to motivate, guide and empower a group of people, in the particular case the personnel of an organization, in order to achieve specific goals.
A leader is described as a person who guides others and has authority and influence over others. They work to influence others into meeting certain goals. There is no right or wrong definition of a leader and there is no recipe that ensures effective leadership. Successful leaders have a good balance of vision, influence, and power. Leaders gain their authority from their ability to influence others to get the work done; because of this, anyone has the potential to be a leader. (Finkelman. 2012, p15)
What is leadership? Leadership is defined as a process by which a individual will influence others to obtain goals. Leaders will guide, direct motivate, or inspire others. Leadership is defined by not only traits but actions as well. Leaders are inspirational, trustworthy and charismatic. Many people may think a manger is leader. Although leadership and management go hand in hand, they are not the same. Everyone has their own beliefs about what characteristics an effective leader should have. To me, communication skills, critical thinking skills, and having a vision are few characteristics of becoming an effective leader. A leader is not only born, but made. Some are born as leaders or some are made to be leaders.
Leadership is essentially the ability to motivate. An effective leader can motivate others toward reaching a common goal. Leaders are different than managers in that leaders inspire others to do the work needed while managers generally tend to manage the tasks associated with completing the goal.
For many years, I have been told by teachers, family, and friends that I am a good leader. Until fairly recently, I had never truly thought about what it means to be a good leader and just took it as a compliment. Leadership is an intangible concept which cannot be properly outlined in a dictionary, but one which must be formed and explained only through one’s own philosophies and experiences.

Because of this fact most organizations and entrepreneurs are paying close attention the the leaders they put in place to lead their company and its people into victory, which is the ultimate goal of their organizations. It is a well known fact that leadership is an important factor in an organization’s success, but the type of leadership style and as well as the leader 's personality is what really determines that level of success. In my research I have concluded that the most important leadership styles are transformational and transactional leadership. Transformational leadership has the potential to resurrect, transform and keep companies evolving with time. Transactional leadership although can have some negative effects on some, but if used properly, can promote compliance almost a stagnant team through both rewards and punishments. When companies are pursuing leaders, they not only look at their candidates experiences knowledge of a particular sector of that business, but they pay close attention to the personalities of these individual. They do so because they know that one’s leadership style and abilities is heavily affected by the candidates own personality and views. As a result of this thinking, it has lead all authors involved in both research paper and article “Relationship Between Leaders Personality Types and Source of Power and leadership Styles Among Managers” and “
Many people believe that leadership is simply being the first, biggest or most powerful. Leadership in organizations has a different and more meaningful definition. A leader is someone who sets direction in an effort or task and influences or motivates people to follow that direction. The power point presentation explains leadership is the influence that particular individuals exert on the goal achievement of others in an organizational context.
