When you purchase a product, do you think about where it came from or how it was made? Not many people do. In the United States, many companies still test on animals, and the U.S. is one of the only countries left that still test on animals for commercial and medical purposes. Animal testing should never be used because there are alternative ways that can be more successful, things that affect animals may not affect people the same was and vise versa, and animal testing is cruel and should be considered animal abuse, Alternative testing can be found easily. The article “Should Animals Be Tested For Scientific or Commercial Testing?” showed that animal testing can cost over 32,000 dollars, while other ways cost less than half …show more content…
What they are doing to animals in research facilities are even worse. Animals being tested are usually forced to eat, forced inhalation, food and water deprivation, times where they can’t move, the infliction of burns and other wounds to study the healing, having to endure pain to study its effects and remedies, and killing by being deprived of oxygen, neck-breaking, or even decapitation (peta.org). No one, or animal wants to suffer. Most of the animals in laboratories end up dying. These animals either die while being experimented on, or are killed after. Unsuccessful testes end in the unwarranted deaths of many animals. The animal welfare doesn’t protect all animals, so there are still many animals that are continuously experimented on. In 2009 around 388 violations were found by the AWA (Animal Welfare Act). (procon.org) So many violations show that not all facilities are doing the right thing. And if these animals are suffering through unnecessary pain. There needs to be consequences. Animal testing is a horrid thing because, there are alternative ways that can be more successful, animals are different than humans, and animal testing is cruel, inhumane and should be considered animal abuse. Animals all around earth are being tortured and even killed through animal testing. Everyone can take part to prevent it. Only buy products not tested on animals. Educate others! Tell friends, family, and even your own community. Help these animals that are being sentenced to death. Stop animal
Animals should not be used as test subjects for any research. The innocent and helpless animals’ rights are being violated when they are involved during animal experimentation. These unfortunate animals do not have a choice whether or not they want to be involved in testing. They are not intended for people to experiment on for their own selfish reasons. It is not right to take advantage of the animals because they are helpless and cannot protect themselves. Animals and humans have similarities; they both behave, feel, think, and experience pain. Therefore, animals should be treated with the same respect as humans. The pain and suffering an animal is forced to endure is not worth any new product. It is cruel and inhumane to take advantage of an innocent animal. These tests that use animals to ensure the safety of products are extremely common without people even knowing about it. It is not fair to these animals to abuse their beauty. They are helpless and cannot control what is happening to them. Animal experimentation should be stopped because it violates the rights of animals and harms or even kills the animals.
Have you ever asked yourself what kind of makeup, hand soap or detergent you are using? Have you ever been worried that you could probably be supporting animal testing without even knowing it? This is one of the most horrible procedures of modern time. Animal testing cause pain and even death to the animals involved only to determine whether a certain product is safe for human use. These living beings are kept in cages for all their lives, they are traumatized by the daily torture and by the different kinds of drugs given; they are left with open wounds, blinded eyes, etc. But, is this really necessary? Is it morally and ethically justified? Every living being, not just people, owns the ability to think, to feel pain, to show affection and
Each year, millions of animals, ranging from mice to monkeys, suffer through the cruel and inhumane practice of animal testing. Scientist throughout the world are torturing animals for mankind’s own benefit, which is unreliable in most cases. “According to Humane Society International, animals that are used in experiments are commonly subjected to force feeding, forced inhalation, food and water deprivation, prolonged periods of physical restraint, the infliction of burns and other wounds to study the healing processes and the infliction of pain to study its effects and remedies.” Although humans often benefit from successful animal research, these animals do not have a voice to say no. The pain, suffering, and deaths inflicted on these animals are not worth the possible human benefits. Scientist test the animals for many products that we humans can use (makeup, medicine, etc.). Many of the items we purchase on a regular basis have been tested on animals first. Most of the animal testing is unreliable.
Every year about 100 million animals suffer through being poisoned, shocked, and burned for unsuccessful medical research. Some may believe that animal testing is a crucial part to medical research and should be used more frequently. Others believe the pain and suffering inflicted upon the animals is morally wrong and should not be done, no matter what benefits come from it.
Each year in the United States close to 26 million animals including, mice, rabbits, cats, dogs, and most commonly chimpanzees are tested both for scientific research and conventional research. Animals are tested in treatments to determine how a drug or treatment will affect a human being, and several more health care purposes. This is nothing new though, animal testing has been practiced since 500 BC. Animal testing is both morally and ethically wrong and needs to be put to a stop.
The world is full of chemicals and companies trying to make the most “bang” for their buck. What most people don 't know is that behind most large manufacturing companies sits poor tortured animals rotting away in cages being used for the experimental needs of humans. In the United States alone 100 million animals are used on yearly bases. (Shell Ethics) Animal testing is NOT needed for any reason-it’s killing animals, it’s cruel, and alternative methods are available. Many over look those facts, have accepted that it happens, and needed to insure safety.
One must remember that scientists who carry out animal testing are human to and most definitely do feel some sense of guilt using these animals for the sole reason to benefit mankind. However, “if there were good alternatives to animals that worked better or as well, for less money and hassle, scientists would use them” (Source D). Many believe that animals testing is wrong, but they must understand that at the current time there is no other option. It is difficult to find a different practice has been so substantial and has improved millions of lives and society as a whole. Animal testing, though the testing on animals may not be the best option, the after effects of testing has been successful over the past decades and will continue on this path as scientists and researchers gain more knowledge. There may be a point in time that society becomes so better off that there would be no more need to test
The way I look at animal testing is a form hateful cruelty. None of these people care about if it hurts or kills the animals. The cruelty has been going on long enough and I think it is time to stop. What people do not know is that animal’s react a different way to drugs as humans do, so scientist cannot apply the results to humans. Many animals go through screaming, unbearable, horrific; you cannot even imagine pain when they go through test for products that you use every day such as: Cosmetics, Household Products, Medical Products, even Iams dog products. Some well-known animals that are use for testing are: cats, dogs, mice, rats, hamsters, guinea pigs, gerbils, sheep, llamas, cattle, owls, deer, monkeys and other primates. These are not, by any means, all of the animals that they use. These are just the most common ("Animal Rights: Animal Testing"). Animals cannot tell you that something hurts, but they can scream to let the scientist know, but none of them care that it hurts them so bad. Some scientist do not see that countless animals suffer and die, or that it is just plain wrong. These animals suffer, feel pain, hurt and want to live as we do. These companies have burned the skin off some animals, mutilated some bunnies’ ears, poisoned the mice, punching puppies in the face, drip a substance in bunnies eyes, and the suffering and dying of these animals has gone on too long.
In conclusion, animal testing is a subject that will continue to be argued about for years to come. There are two very distinct sides to the debate, it is either acceptable or it isn’t. Animal testing is a very beneficial process when used to discover cures in the medical field but should not be used just to simply test a new brand of cosmetics of household products. There have been several advancements made so far and more cures will be discovered as time goes on and more products are tested. The medical field has advanced so much due to the discoveries made from testing out new vaccines and medicines. They don’t have a cure for cancer today, but who knows, in ten years from now there might be a way to save loved one’s lives because of research and procedures that are being performed today.
Animal testing must be banned for unnecessary tests because a lot of animals are dying for no reason. Ninety-four percent of animal testing is done to determine the safety of cosmetics and household products (Animal Testing 1). That only leaves six percent for medical research (1). Ninety percent of all animals used in research are rats and mine (Animals Used in Experiments 4). Cosmetic testing is banned in Belgium, Netherlands, and the United Kingdom (1). The United States has many companies that continue to legally perform horrible tests on animals (1). The United States Food and Drug Administration and the Consumer Product Safety Commission do not require animal testing for cosmetics or household products (1). The Animal Welfare Act is the only federal law to require basic standards of care, housing and treatment to the animals that are kept in the labs for testing (4). The LD50 test is one of the worst tests that was developed back in 1927 and is still used today (1). Groups of animals are dosed with different amounts of a test substance in order to determine the does which kills half of the animals (1)! Animals are force-fed this substance (1). Why would we want to put poor animals in this kind of pain for no reason? Animals to the society can be their world. Animal lovers in the society would probably give their all just to mak...
Not only do we have other options for these tests, but animals testing has actually been proven to be ineffective. Companies claim that this sort of cruelty will benefit the human population by testing the “safety” of the products, as they have been for hundreds of years and although this may have been helpful in the past, scientists have discovered otherwise. “While funding for animal experimentation and the number of animals tested on continues to increase, the United States still ranks 49th in the world in life expectancy and second worst in infant mortality in the developed world” (“Animal Testing Is”). This evidence shows that while we still continue to support and spend money on animal testing, it is not working as well as we thought.Essentially we are torturing the animals for a negative outcome, both for the human and the animal. The Food and Drug Administration reports that “92 out of every 100 drugs that pass animal tests fail in humans” (“Top Five Reasons”). If the products and drugs that we are testing on the animals are not working then there is no use in harming a harmless animal for them. Some may disagree and say that animal testing has enabled us to develop many life saving treatments for both humans and animals. But in reality there has been more cons then pros in animal testing. For example, “Animal tests on the arthritis drug Vioxx showed that it had a protective effect on the hearts of mice, yet the drug went on to cause more than 27,000 heart attacks and sudden cardiac deaths before being pulled from the market” (Should Animals Be). While animal testing has enabled us to create great products it is usually ineffective on humans and leads to animals being harmed for no
Tens of millions of animals are killed or maimed each year through research on the safety and effectiveness of new drugs, chemicals, and consumer products. Even though animals are not humans does not mean they should be used for testing, which is so inhumane. These animals could have a different importance in society than just experimentation. What is done to animals is usually not safe, ending up with the animal injured or even dead. This experimentation however, is becoming less useful because scientists are creating new ways for testing. Animal testing is cruel and inhuman, causing too many animals to be injured or killed when safer alternatives are becoming available.
By animal testing, the companies not only violate the animals' rights (which is breaking the law), but their testing methods are hazardous which endanger the animal's life. Finally, the companies should stop animal testing because each year we lose hundreds of thousands of animals and could make a difference by stopping this cruelty. Stop the animal testing, and save a life.
Have you ever felt like a prisoner being tortured everyday? That is what animal testing would be experienced as. There are hundreds of different horrific ways animals are tested on. Such as deadly chemicals, fatal disease, and even having their bones broken. Animal testing is horrific problem that needs to be brought to the light. Thousands of animals are victims to animal testing each year. It is an issue that the government doesn't want to control or stop. I believe people like us can make companies one step closer to stop animal testing.
Imagine a world where humans are the experiments being tested on all day long. While humans are the ones experimenting and doing their job, animals do their “job” and are the ones being tested on. There are many animals that are currently being tested on. Animals get tortured and even killed during the experiments. Before experiments, the animals are also treated horrifically. Animals should not be used for product and medical research.
