The ugly Truth directed by Robert Luketic was a delightful and entertaining movie. Katherine Hiegl and Gerard Butler are both well known actors who work marvelously together in this movie. There is something in the movie for all men and women, whether they are on his side or rooting for her. The story of the central couple will grab the hearts of all those who watch it. What makes this movie shine specifically is the script of the storyline and the chemistry between the main actors; however, as a romantic, comedy it could have been better.
The plot of the movie is focused on the two main characters Abbie (Katherine Hiegl), and Mike (Gerard Butler). Abbie was a television producer who had a very naïve idea of love, relationships, and “perfect men”. She was very uptight, predictable and lived a routine life. After the ratings for her show began to decline, her boss was forced to hire Mike to bring the ratings up. Mike’s show portrayed the ugly truth about men and women’s relationships. He was very blunt and knowledgeable about how relationships and love really worked. Abbie was disgusted by Mike and what he believed relationships were all about. Because of a bet between them, Mike promises Abbie that he can direct her to find love and make a man want her. Through the course of plotting and helping Abbie get her man, Mike in turn falls in love with Abbie, and they end up together in the cliché way of happily ever after.
The storyline and the script of this movie were hysterical for the crowd of ages seventeen and up. The humor is in both the dialogue between the characters and their actions. For example, there are scenes in this movie where Abbie gets caught doing stupid and embarrassing things. One example of this humor is th...

...the “aww” for its romantic ending scene. It lacked the usual anticipation viewers have when they sit at the edge of their chair to see how the couples come together in the end. The final scene could have been passionate or capturing yet it was more comedy and seemed like a joke.
To conclude, the fast pace of the scenes, the humor of the script and the organization of The Ugly Truth made it a success. Katherine Heigl and Gerard Butler, the two known actors in the movie took on the roles of their characters flawlessly. They were feisty, funny, and dramatic enough for all the required scenes. The only criticism for this movie is the limited romance it has. The comedy and humor of the movie takes over the feel of the romance in the movie. Nevertheless, I definitely recommend this movie for viewers who are looking to enjoy an engaging movie and have a good laugh.
was dramatic but it never went too far and became sappy and overdone. This film
Acting of movie is very basic for todays standards. The actions of the Miles Bennell aren’t believable or logical. At some points the women of the movie tend of over action simple scenes. The rest of the cast is monotone and have little emotion. It ok casting, but they could of done better. You find yourself laughing at serious point in the film due to the poor acting. This movie could be recut to become a comedy movie, just based off their facial expression.
The film received mostly positive reviews. Roger Ebert praised the film as "one of those stories with the quality of a nightmare, in which foolish young men try to out-macho one another until they get trapped in a violent situation which will forever alter their lives.”
The basic plot is based around two Chicano girls and their childhood lives. The movie is split up into three episodes. Maribel “Mousie” and Mona “Sad Girl” were childhood best friends that become enemies over a boy, Ernesto. Sad Girl is the main narrator of the movie. This drug dealer first falls for Mousie, but then gets Sad Girl pregnant also. He spends most of his money on his two babies and his prize possession, Suavecito, his mini-truck. The two young mothers arrange a fight one-on-one for a bloody confrontation. Neither of them gets hurt, but Ernesto is shot by one of his Caucasian clients on the same night. With Ernesto out of both of their lives, they can move on and earn back each other’s friendship.
The movie is about really big things, it’s a lot about modern-day ambition within an old business world. It’s about social interaction and primarily it’s about a big war. Two friends look to create something amazing that would impact the whole world, which eventually ends up breaking their friendship. Act 1 establishes Mark Zuckerberg (played by Jesse Eisenberg) in an Ordinary world, who gets dumped by his girlfriend (Rooney Mara) due to his behavior against her. Mark blogs about her girlfriend breaking up and referring her as “ a bitch” in his online blog. Later that night he picks up an idea to create a website called face match act 2 call to adventure (Vogler, 2007). Where female students are matched against each other based on their physical appearances. He sees this move as ‘payback’ of his girlfriend.
One aspect of the movie is the characters. Tyler Perry develops the characters through similar situations from the first movie, Why Did I Get Married, in order to discover other traits of the characters in the second movie. The purpose of four couples is to act out the difference between stable and destructive marriages; it
The actors, if they are even worthy of that title, are so bad that the great actors and actresses of the past are left rolling in their graves. The range of personality types include: a midget, conjoined twins, bouncing bikini babes, three no-life college life guys, a playboy bunny and Gary Coleman. Need I say more? The acting ability resembles the talent I recently saw in the third grade production of "The Little Red Hen." The appearance of the over all cast was not much better. Although, with a screenplay like this one has, I can see how many professionals wouldn't waste their time.
...r, this movie is lack of depth of storyline. The audiences can even predict what will happen in the next scenes. Moreover, the ending of this movie is too cheesy and irrational according to me. If only they change the ending to become more interesting and rational, I will give a four or five stars out of five. In spite of a lame twist ending, this movie is a perfect example to show that managers should be able to motivate and challenge their employee. It is important to remember that a happy employee means a productive employee.
I have to disagree with both these reviews. I believed that the story was brilliantly written and the cinematography was beautiful. This movie touched me and had me in tears which believe me is hard to do. I do agree with the New York Times and New Yorker that it was a little dragged out and that Kiera Knightly acting was over rated. Other than that I would defiantly recommend this movie.
However Roger Ebert once again does this in a very dismissive tone. He applauds Lily Collins and Sam Claflin on their acting - calling it “honest and effortless (Roger Ebert)”. Except then moving onto delivering his last comment on the poor and painful story with “you wish for them to end that streak, but not nearly enough. (Roger
Both the young and the old are captured by this candid and unexpected story of a friendship. Bob Harris (Bill Murray), a washed out, middle-aged actor doing a $2 million commercial in Tokyo, develops a strong friendship with Charlotte (Scarlett Johansson) who has accompanied her new husband on another one of his posh photo shoots. Both characters find themselves in a period of uncertainty. Bob, feeling more and more estranged from his wife, relates to the woes of Charlotte as she struggles to find her own path in life, at times questioning her marriage. Their relationship sparks from a mutual time-zone induced insomnia that has them bumping into each other at the hotel bar at all hours of the night. Regardless of the age difference, this relationship feels much more real to each of them, than the superficial world of whiskey commercials and celebrities into which they have fallen. When Charlotte’s husband leaves her for the weekend to go on a photo shoot in southern Japan, their relationship takes off. Together they venture out into Tokyo, all the while drawing closer to each other. The pivotal scene comes when Charlotte seeks advice about her relationship from Bob, showing the intimacy that has developed between them. While always ...
It was unconventionally rewarding and an interesting comedy. Taking the film noir’s themes, Shane Black created a world with weird turns and twists of its own. The main protagonist did not have to be the selfless and arrogant detective. Sexuality was well respected, in a comedic way you can say, and even praised. It is a society with many vices, but that some way or another the characters find a way out of it. The woman presented in the film, Harmony, portrayed femme fatale characteristics, however, she was not tied down to any gender role she did not want to be part of. At the end, the purpose of the film is not only to ridicule, but to exhibit a new world adapted to different
It is within this battle of covering things up that we can find the beauty in the movie and it was the director is trying to portray. The beauty is all an illusion used to trick people into believing things are one way when in reality they are completely
It’s not an awful film, but why would you ever watch it ever again? It’s a film that you forget soon after watching it. Everything is just so tame. The characters can’t even be called flat, they really just have no personality to them. If you tried to describe the characters, you’d fail, as there’s just nothing to be said about anyone.
A Beautiful Mind may have been developed to be a crowd-pleaser as well as a tear-jerker, because you know this is a man’s life without falsities. It is blatant and true, that’s all. This film proves that there are still instances when Hollywood-produced, big budget movies are worth a viewer's investment of time and money.
