Columbus: Hero or Villain?

Throughout history, there have been many famous explorers. They were well known for their influence and discoveries that significantly changed the human race. Among them is a man named Christopher Columbus. Christopher Columbus discovered the new world, and he also believed the world to be round. The majority of the people alive during his time were sure that the world was flat. Many years later, there are a lot of oppositions and controversies as to if Columbus was a hero. Based on extensive readings, I consider Columbus to be a villain because he committed several crimes against innocent people.
