Colorblindness is a deficiency of color. There are several different types of colorblindness. The most common type is red-green colorblindness. It is caused by having problems with light-detecting cells in your eye. Most people assume being colorblind leaves you at a disadvantage to other people. In some cases it can be a disadvantage, but it can also give you an edge over others. An advantage of being colorblind is being able to detect camouflage. “During World War II, colorblind servicemen reportedly spotted hidden enemy soldiers.” It is easier to see camo when you are colorblind because you see the outlines of patterns, but not the actual colors. In Tritanopia the s-cones are completely missing from the eye, and in Tritanomoly the s- cones have some kind of mutation.
