To many people, anxiety is just a word. To me, it’s something that has always been a part of my life. I worked two jobs while balancing my GPA and social life. I took college level classes in high school and was also Drama Club President, Head of the PowderPuff Football Committee, and I was the yearbook chief editor. Anxiety isn’t just something you experience once and it goes away; once your body learns what it is, it seems to just take over. Anxiety is almost a silent killer. You can act completely normal on the outside and everyone will think you have your life together, while in reality everything is slowly slipping away. I was always known in high school for being the happy kid, I always said hello to everyone and tried to share as much joy as could. From the outside, you would never know I suffer from major anxiety. That’s the problem with anxiety, if you don’t let anyone know, no one can help you. Studies have shown that a good majority of the people who have attempted suicide or have passed away from suicide had some type of mental problem, whether it was depression or anxiety or even bullying. My mom experiences anxiety as well as depression so I believe it’s passed down from generation to generation. My mom deals with her anxiety differently than I do; she sort of shuts down and shuts everything and everyone out of her life. I …show more content…

Certain ways I want to be able to help is maybe host a seminar with other people who have had problems with anxiety and they can explain how they have dealt with it. Also maybe they could include some ways others can handle their anxiety. Overall I just want to bring awareness to the fact that students everyday have to handle anxiety and some hide it because they don’t know how to express it.
