College sports are among the most watched programs on television. People all over the world tune in to see their favorite athletes and teams play. The athletes are out there working hard to produce a win while the universities are making money off of them playing. Some people say this is wrong, while other think it is the way it is supposed to be. Many people have strong opinions on college sports, but the strongest views are on whether or not athletes should get paid Most college athletes believe they should be paid to play by the universities. Analysts that are for college athletes getting paid have strong feelings on why. They believe that the schools have enough money for high quality things and almost anything else they want to buy, so they should have enough money to pay the athletes. One analysts even said, “Schools have money for fancy training facilities, charter jets to away games, state-of-the-art arenas. Yet the labor force-and that's what the players are-gets nothing Name another industry where labor gets nothing”(Nocera 22). These are not the only sports analysts who have thrown in their view. Analysts on the left believe that paying athletes would not turn out the way most people believe it would. Analysts believe that even though the colleges have enough money to buy whatever they, they still should not pay the college athletes to play. They say that paying the athletes would lessen the number of athletic teams each college has because the schools would not have enough money to pay all athletes. Several analysts believe, “Paying college athletes would force many schools to make tough choices and field fewer athletic teams. It would rob many students of the chance not only to compete but also to learn the life skills that participating in sports”(Nocera 22).
